Ferguson: I've been learning since I became a coach at the age of 32

Recently, The legendary manager of Manchester United, Sir Alex Ferguson, as a guest lecturer in the UEFA Professional Coaching Training Exchange Programme, taught coaching experience to trainees from Bulgaria, Cyprus, Poland and Ireland.

Ferguson told the students during his lecture:

"I really love people who are learning to play and want to be coaches. I started coaching at the age of 32 and of course I've been learning ever since. But realistically, starting coaching at the age of 32 makes a few things very meaningful: first, I can make decisions one by one; second, I can direct the game; and third, I have my coaching credentials. ”

"Now, these few things are very important. And other things, if you spend your time, can also make progress in the process of learning, especially through communication. I always think that when you become the head coach of a team, you're not just responsible for managing the 11 players on the pitch. ”

Ferguson believes that the exchange of ideas and information is very important for coaches, and he also praised UEFA's coaching system.

"I think it's very important that coaches should take all the courses they can take, even some refresher courses, and stick to them." Because there's always something that may seem trivial, but we can learn lessons throughout the process. ”

"UEFA must play a leading role in the direction of the development of coaches, providing the best possible guarantee for coaches and allowing everyone to continuously improve their level as football coaches. I think UEFA will always be the most important organisation when it comes to creating a good platform for young people. ”
