Red-tailed water plover: A small bird of the genus Water Plover in the family Plover family, the male is mostly dark grayish blue; the wings are black brown; the tail feathers and the upper and lower coverts of the tail are chestnut red. The female has grey-brown upperparts; brown wings with two white dotted spots; tail feathers are white, the ends and feather margins are brown; the upper and lower coverts of the tail are pure white; and the underparts are gray, mixed with irregular white spots.
It is found in mountain spring streams or mountain streams, river valleys, rocks on the banks of plain rivers, around buildings near streams or between pond banks. It feeds mainly on insects, but also eats a small amount of plant fruits and seeds.
It is found in China, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Kashmir, Nepal, Sikkim, Bhutan, India, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Vietnam, Thailand and other places.
