On the morning of September 18, the "2021 Asian Education Forum Annual Conference" with the theme of "The Future of Education in Asia" opened at the Tianfu International Convention Center in Chengdu.
In the keynote speech session, Yao Wang, senior adviser of the Boao Forum for Asia, said in sharing the new diplomatic situation and the new challenges of studying abroad that under the current situation, many aspects such as overseas students are restricted, and in the context of this change, it is particularly important to strengthen the output of the third world.
Yao Wang first affirmed the role played by international students in opening up internal and external circulation and strengthening people-to-people diplomatic ties. He believes that despite the sharp and complex international contradictions and international environment, it is still very important to conduct people-to-people exchanges, especially to strengthen ties with world-renowned universities, and at the same time, the direction of studying abroad is not necessarily that of western developed countries.
"In the past, our children, parents and teachers overemphasized studying in developed countries, but in fact, studying in third world countries is still an important direction of study abroad, and our cooperation with the third world will be strengthened more and more." Yao Wang believes that under the influence of the diplomatic situation and economic and trade exchanges, talents who are familiar with the language, living environment, communication methods and business methods of third world countries will become more and more popular, "Therefore, studying in third world countries should definitely be an important choice for many of our students in the future. ”
Yao Wang suggested that students planning to study abroad should adjust their choice of majors for studying abroad. "In the past, we emphasized the high-tech industry, with the continuous improvement of China's scientific and technological level, we still need to learn science and technology, but we must also pay attention to the construction of humanities." Therefore, our children, parents, and teachers should not only focus on high technology, but in the process of studying abroad, the liberal arts is still an important area of our learning. For example, in the fields of economics, legal affairs, especially international law, and international accounting, our students have a lot to offer. ”
