At the end of 2019, hktdc and the Department of Science and Technology of Jiangsu Province signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Technological Innovation Cooperation to promote scientific and technological innovation cooperation between Suzhou and Hong Kong. The Department of Science and Technology of Jiangsu Province set up the "Suzhou-Hong Kong Science and Technology Cooperation Special Project" last year to reward the technical cooperation projects between Suzhou and Hong Kong.
In 2019, the Science and Technology Department of Jiangsu Province signed a technical cooperation agreement with the Hong Kong Trade Development Council.

The 14th Five-Year Plan proposes a new positioning for Hong Kong to "build an international innovation and technology hub". Jiangsu Province has a strong manufacturing industry and a complete supply chain, and Hong Kong's scientific and technological achievements will form a good ecology of complementarity and symbiosis with the industrial structure of Jiangsu Province.
This matchmaking meeting will focus on artificial intelligence, biomedicine and other technical fields.
Representatives of Hong Kong's Polytechnic University, the University of Hong Kong, and hkTDC Startups introduced 10 high-tech projects online. In Jiangsu Province, offline, it shared the case of scientific and technological cooperation between Suzhou and Hong Kong and released the technical cooperation needs.
More than 2,100 representatives of enterprises and scientific research institutions in Jiangsu Province watched the live broadcast online and exchanged views with Hong Kong universities, start-ups and intellectual property service institutions.
Hong Kong universities have strong production, education and research strength, and there is also a mature technology transfer mechanism. For example, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University demonstrated its latest scientific and technological achievements at the first matchmaking meeting held last year, which was welcomed by enterprises in Jiangsu Province and carried out technical cooperation with enterprises in Changzhou City, Jiangsu Province and other places.
The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, which is participating again this year, is led by Dr Cheung Yi Ming, Deputy Head of the Department of Applied Physics, to launch three scientific research achievements in the fields of microbiology, artificial intelligence and applied science. Among them, the microfluidic platform technology for the selection and breeding of "microalgae" fits the background of "carbon peaking" and "carbon neutrality", and has broad commercial prospects, so it has attracted the interest of bioengineering enterprises in Jiangsu Province.

For the first time, the University of Hong Kong was invited to participate in the event. Four scientific research achievements, including electronic technology, intelligent algorithms, medical technology and drugs, were displayed. Among them, the two achievements of target technology for Alzheimer's disease and new antihypertensive drugs have been highly concerned by biomedical enterprises in Jiangsu Province.

At the matchmaking meeting, the three winning companies of "Entrepreneurship Express" 2021 brought eye-catching projects such as oncology platform consultation, online artificial intelligence-driven offline retail innovation, and intelligent health monitoring technology.

The three entrepreneurs all expressed their appreciation for the strength of Jiangsu Province's "science and technology strong province" and the vast consumer market, and intended to carry out in-depth cooperation with local enterprises. Among them, the Miguang telemedicine project has been incubated in Wuxi City, Jiangsu Province.
Hong Kong's well-developed professional service industry can provide extended services for the scientific and technological achievements of Suzhou and Hong Kong, which will help form a complete chain of "industry, education, research and business".

In addition, Nanjing Jurun Information Technology and Nanjing Namor Instruments in Jiangsu Province shared their successful experience in cooperation with Hong Kong in science and technology projects.
Among them, Jurun Information Technology and the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University jointly developed automated photovoltaic saltfield technology, and the project cooperation period was 4 years. Guo Su, general manager of Jurun Information Technology, said that Hong Kong's advanced technological development and world-class wisdom and technology resources brought together by universities: "At the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, we can find world-class technical cooperation."
Based on the fruitful achievements of scientific and technological cooperation between Suzhou and Hong Kong, three biomedical enterprises in Jiangsu Province - KGI Biologics, Zhiyuan Pharmaceutical and Huayang Pharmaceutical - also put forward technical cooperation needs to the Hong Kong side, hoping to strengthen technical cooperation in the field of innovative drugs and biotechnology with Hong Kong universities and research institutes, and jointly promote the development of the pharmaceutical and health industry of the two places.
In the future, HKTDC will strengthen cooperation with the Science and Technology Department of Jiangsu Province to provide continuous project docking services for enterprises in need, and jointly promote the exchange and docking of industrial technology needs in Jiangsu Province and Hong Kong's high-quality science and technology resources.
In 2014, Jiangsu Province and the HKTDC established the "Joint Conference on Suzhou-Hong Kong Cooperation" mechanism, which holds annual meetings to establish and implement comprehensive cooperation between Jiangsu and Hong Kong in investment and trade, science and technology, finance, culture and other fields. The successful holding of this matchmaking meeting will kick off the ninth meeting to be held at the end of this year.
