At 4:30 p.m. on October 15, the 2021 Hong Kong Miniature Art Exhibition - Nanjing Station, hosted by the Economic and Trade Office of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in Shanghai and supported by the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the People's Government of Jiangsu Province, was officially opened at Hongyang Square in Nanjing. This exhibition showcases more than 40 miniature works of art that embody Hong Kong's humanities, so that the people of Nanjing can appreciate the unique humanistic charm of Hong Kong within 100 steps.
With small cases, large and ingenious, miniature art condenses the authentic taste of Hong Kong
The miniature artworks on display are provided by the Hong Kong Happy Miniature Art Club and cover four categories: "Cultural Heritage", "Landmark Architecture", "Nostalgic Street Market" and "Hong Kong Style". "Cultural Heritage" shows Hong Kong's unique cultural activities such as Cheung Chau Grabbing Bao Shan and Tai Hang Fire Dragon Dance; "Landmark Buildings" reduce Hong Kong's iconic buildings to include 12 exhibits such as the Blue House and the Da'ao Heritage Hotel; "Nostalgic Street Market" will move Hong Kong-style shops to the exhibition hall, and the Hong Kee Grain, Oil and Miscellaneous Goods and Fengqiao Embroidery Zhuang exhibited for the first time at Nanjing Station belong to this category; "Hong Kong-style flavor" is the most attractive, and Hong Kong cuisine is dazzling, mouth-watering and fascinating.
Unlike previous exhibitions in other places, Nanjing Station contains a number of new works, such as Tim Kee stationery, Zeng Zaocai, etc., and the just-concluded Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games series, which is a feast for the eyes. More than 40 exhibits are exquisite in detail, small and large, stringing together Hong Kong's customs and festivals, characteristic buildings and even the culture and century-old history of Chinese and Western integration, which not only condenses ingenuity, but also carries the artist's feelings for Hong Kong, silent and sound, bringing a rich visual experience to the audience.

Among the works of "Nostalgic Street Market", the "Chinese Ice Room" produced by Cai Bilong and He Guotian in a 1:18 scale is one of the most representative works. It has been filmed in many Hong Kong films, such as "PTU" and "New Love", and finally closed in 2019. Artists have preserved it with miniature art as another kind of preservation of Hong Kong culture. It embodies the memories of a generation of old Hong Kongers and Hong Kong movies, with exquisite workmanship and unique design, old mosaic tiles, slowly rotating ceiling fans, the old bread cabinet in front of the store, and even the small strokes of one yuan and Wu Yuan money on the cash register table can be seen. Vividly and vividly shows us the style of the old Hong Kong ice room.
Sheng Fu Lan Xiang Zhuang is Chen Cuiwei's 1:12 miniature artwork, showing the scene of lantern shops during the Mid-Autumn Festival. Before the Mid-Autumn Festival, the lantern shop is filled with lanterns of different styles made with traditional methods. The artist strives for realism and learns from the lantern master how to make traditional lanterns.
Each work condenses the painstaking efforts of the maker, and it takes about a year to complete a work, and the careful viewer will find small surprises hidden in it, such as the Chinese Ice Room, where Bruce Lee sits leisurely in front of the door.
Committed to cultural inheritance and preservation of humanistic history
According to Zhang Xia, a representative of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council in Jiangsu, and Pan Liqiong, president of the Hong Kong Happy Miniature Art Society, many of the prototypes of these works have been submerged in the long river of history and disappeared, and those that have disappeared can only be reproduced by consulting information and influences, so the production of these miniature artworks is also to maximize the preservation of Hong Kong's urban style at every stage, and each work is a microcosm of Hong Kong's history.
"Tai O Shack" presents a three-year-old shack through one piece, preserving the figure of this unique architecture, which is one of the most unique landscapes in Hong Kong.
Cai Liang, director of the Shanghai Office, said in his speech at the opening ceremony of the exhibition that today, when the epidemic is still continuing, the Shanghai Office holds a miniature art exhibition in this special period, hoping to bring Hong Kong to Nanjing in a novel way through the skillful hands of artists, and through the promotion of online and offline, so that friends in Nanjing can stay in peace, "visit" Hong Kong in depth within 100 steps, and experience Hong Kong's unique cultural customs, characteristic buildings, and century-old history.
