Today, let's walk into the Amphibian and Reptile Science Popularization Hall of the Chengdu Institute of Biology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and understand the origin, characteristics, habits, classification, status, and ecological role of amphibians and reptiles.
Opened in 2008, the Amphibian and Reptile Science Popularization Museum of chengdu Institute of Biology, Chinese Academy of Sciences is the only science popularization museum in China with the theme of amphibians and reptiles, and it displays rare amphibian reptile specimens and models such as Yangzi crocodile, leatherback turtle, hawksbill turtle, python, giant salamander and so on.
The main body of the Amphibian and Reptile Science Popularization Hall of Chengdu Institute of Biology, Chinese Academy of Sciences is divided into 3 floors:
The first floor is the Amphibian Theme Pavilion: focusing on the evolution of vertebrates "from water to land" and the knowledge of amphibians, displaying representative amphibian specimens and models, including rare amphibian specimens such as giant salamanders.
The second floor is the Reptile Theme Pavilion: focusing on the evolutionary significance of the "successful landing" of vertebrates and the relevant knowledge of reptiles, and displaying representative reptile specimens and models, including rare reptile specimens such as leatherback turtles, hawksbill turtles, and Yangtze crocodiles.
The three-level Theme Museum for Humans and Animals focuses on the relationship between human culture, economic activities and amphibians and reptiles, as well as the threats faced by amphibians and reptiles, displays the distinction between venomous and non-venomous snakes and the prevention and control of venomous snake bites, and also exhibits amphibian and reptile monographs published by the Chengdu Institute of Biology over the years.
With the goal of disseminating scientific knowledge, enlightening public wisdom and promoting the spirit of science, the Science Popularization Museum enhances people's understanding of these animals by displaying amphibian and reptile-related knowledge, prompting everyone to care about their survival status, calling on visitors to spontaneously and consciously protect them, maintain the natural environment around them, and promote the construction process of Ecological Civilization in China.
