On September 22, the reporter learned from the Wawu Mountain Scenic Area that the staff of the scenic spot accidentally found the national second-level key protected wild animal ocelot in the process of patrolling the mountain, and took a rest video of the ocelot with the mobile phone for the first time.
After the video was uploaded to the Internet, it also aroused concern and heated discussion.
According to the video photographer, Li Xiaodong, a security guard of the Wawu Mountain Scenic Area, said that the leopard cat was found on the way to the scenic spot of the Mandarin Duck Pond, when he and his colleagues thought it was an ordinary cat, but when they looked closer, they found that it was not like an ordinary domestic cat, but a bit like wild, and later after the identification of wildlife experts, it was known that this was an ocelot cat. This is also the first time that a trace of an ocelot has been found on Wawu Mountain.
It is reported that the ocelot is a carnivorous cat, because its spots are very similar to China's copper coins, so it is also known as "money cat", the ocelot mainly inhabits the mountain forest area, suburban shrubland and near the forest edge village, is a nocturnal animal, more activity in the morning and dusk, mainly to rodents, rabbits, frogs, lizards, snakes, small birds, insects and so on.
It is understood that as of now, more than 400 rare terrestrial vertebrates have been observed and photographed on Wawu Mountain, including ocelots, forest musk and so on.
