He Xiaoshu, an old film actor in the 1950s, was born on November 21, 1933 in Wanxian County, Sichuan Province. In his early years, he studied at Chongqing Nanshan Primary School, Shuren Primary School, Mawangmiao Central Primary School and Chongqing Girls' High School. After the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, He Xiaoshu and his parents moved from Chongqing to Shanghai to study at Shanghai Girls' High School and the Affiliated Middle School of Hujiang University. In 1949, He Xiaoshu was admitted to Shanghai Yucai School (also known as Xingzhi Art School) and began to systematically study art performance. In 1951, he entered the actor class of the Film School of the State Administration of Culture (the predecessor of the Beijing Film Academy), and was a classmate of the film stars Pang Xueqin, Zhang Yuan, Zhang Hui, Ye Linlang, Yin Zhiming, Zhao Lian and other film stars who had been active in the Chinese film industry for a long time. After graduating in 1953, He Xiaoshu entered the Actors Troupe of beijing film studio as an actor. In 1955, he was transferred to the Changchun Film Studio Actors Troupe as an actor.

He Xiaoshu was a well-known film actor who was active in the Chinese film industry in the 1950s and 1960s, and has played roles in dozens of films such as "Ten O'Clock on National Day", "Youth on the Construction Site", "Hongyan", and "Express Train". At the same time, he participated in the performance of dramas "Thunderstorm", "Red Flag Spectrum", "Sentinel under Neon Lights" and so on. He has voiced the main characters in translations and productions such as "Eleven O'Clock in Rome" and "Couples of Misery". In 1975, he joined the Actors Troupe of Emei Film Studio as an actor and later as the head of the troupe. After 1976, he successively played important roles in films such as "Maple", "Popular Red Dress on the Street", and "Well". He has also played important roles in TV series such as "Ruby Necklace", "Hometown Rose", "Yan Zhao Sorrow Song" and so on. As one of the first film workers trained in New China, He Xiaoshu had a long artistic career, and was still active in the Chinese film industry until 2002. In the early 1980s, He Xiaoshu won the Best Supporting Actress Award at the 2nd Golden Rooster Awards of Chinese Cinema in 1982 for her outstanding performance in the film "The Forgotten Corner of Love".

He Xiaoshu's performance is sincere and simple, and has created many unforgettable artistic images. In the 1970s, He Xiaoshu served as the head of the actor troupe of Emei Film Studio, a director of the Sichuan Film Association, a standing director of the China Film Performing Arts Society, and the president of the Sichuan Branch. He is now a national first-class actor and enjoys the expert allowance of the State Council. In April 2013, he won the special honorary award of the "Golden Phoenix Award" of the 14th China Film Performing Arts Society.
