Beijing, 27 Oct (Xinhua) -- On the occasion of the 22nd Journalists' Day, the China Journalist Association released the list and amount of assistance for the 2021 China Journalists' Assistance Project on the 27th, with a total of 57 journalists from 3 central news units, 49 local news units in 22 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, receiving a total of 1.85 million yuan in aid. This is the eighth consecutive year that the China Journalist Association has provided assistance to journalists who have lost their jobs, are disabled or seriously ill due to the performance of their journalistic duties.

In order to implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important instruction that the China Journalist Association should truly build itself into a "home for journalists", the China Journalist Association has set up the China Journalists Assistance Project to fund and comfort journalists and their families who have died, seriously ill, injured or disabled in the course of performing their news reporting duties.

This year's aid work has played a prominent guiding and leading role, paying attention to journalists who have strengthened the requirements of the "four forces," fulfilled their duties and missions, and made positive contributions to the party's news and public opinion cause. For example, Xu Zheng of Xinhua News Agency, Wang Xiaodong of Beijing Youth Daily, Wu Yuqing of Fujian Daily, and Wang Jianlong of Xinjiang Newspaper Media Group have been engaged in editorial checking work and have adhered to their night shift posts for more than ten years; Huang Meijuan of Anhui Radio and Television Station, Shi Jian of Hunan XiangxiZhou Unity Newspaper, and Wang Shu of Yunnan Zhaotong Daily have long taken root in the grass-roots level, served the masses, and practiced excellent skills with diligence and dedication; yin Jieyu of Hainan Radio and Television Corporation, Chen Wanjiu of Fuxin City Media Center in Liaoning Province, and Diao Mingkang of Sichuan Cover Media have been working in epidemic prevention and control, poverty alleviation, and poverty alleviation. Journalists who shouldered their responsibilities and rushed to the front line in major theme propaganda and campaign reports such as flood prevention and disaster relief received assistance.

It is understood that since the establishment of the China Journalist Assistance Program in 2014, the China Journalist Association has distributed a total of 16.82 million yuan in assistance to 371 journalists who were killed, disabled or seriously ill in the performance of their journalistic duties by 214 central and local news units.
