In the new century, around this "ecological treasure house", the state, provinces and municipalities have given strong support: in 2000, the provincial government approved the establishment of the Kuncheng Mountain Provincial Nature Reserve. In 2008, the State Council announced the establishment of the Kuncheng Mountain National Nature Reserve. In 2010, the municipal party committee and the municipal government announced that the administrative management function of the Kuncheng Mountain Nature Reserve was entrusted with the jurisdiction of the Kuncheng Mountain Forest Farm and 36 administrative villages, which is also a very small number in the country.

As a nature reserve, it should be protected; as an administrative function area, it should be developed. Two burdens, two concepts, doomed the Kuncheng Mountain Reserve to embark on an unusual path.

Keeping the Kunming Mountains well is not only to leave a sustainable "green bank" for future generations, but also to feed the people's livelihood with ecological welfare in the contemporary era.

"In the past, my family's main income depended on a few acres of orchards, and there was not much left after the annual planing cost.
