It is hard to imagine that these realistic three-dimensional, relief-like paintings were made of rags, all by an old man in his seventies.

"Fabric embroidery seems simple, it is not easy to do, it is difficult to make only one drawing as a reference, the rest need to be conceived and created by themselves." Speaking of color matching, Yin Shouxian took the embroidery metaphor: "I have not learned embroidery, I must first match the thread, the fabric embroidery is the same, and the color matching is the most critical." For example, the green of the leaves, not to say that the stagnant water is all used in a green cloth, it needs to use a deep, light, light green of various gradient colors, but also depends on which part you place, highlighting the layers. If your color is not matched, then the finished product you make is not vivid, flexible or good-looking. ”

In addition to paying attention to color collocation, fabric embroidery also has a difficult point is simulation, in Yin Shouxian's view, in addition to the selection of fabric materials, the creator's aesthetic and understanding is also very important. Especially when creating works of historical figures, in order to realistically reproduce the facial features of the characters and highlight the temperament and charm of the characters, Yin Shouxian often collects style on the ground, deeply understands the character stories and repeatedly studies the physical modeling. "For example, I made the work "Li Shuchang", Li Shuchang was born in the Qing Dynasty, and he was an ambassador, so he could not use the usual native cloth to shape him, he had to use satin cloth, not only in line with his identity, but also in line with the background at that time, which is not something that can be done with any material." Yin Shouxian laughed and said, this is also what everyone often says, to see if you have "art cells", the level of appreciation is not high.

To date, she has created nearly 100 works, many of which are collected by local exhibition halls and museums. In 2014, her red-themed work "Zunyi Conference" was collected by the Zunyi Conference Memorial Hall. Today, Yin Shouxian, who is in her seventies, teaches at a local university for the elderly, specializing in teaching fabric embroidery, and she intends to pass on this craft, and at the same time, she also hopes that fabric embroidery can bloom in the hands of young people.

To Yin Shouxian's relief, several of her grandchildren were happy to follow her. "I have a granddaughter who loves fabric embroidery, and she was admitted to college this year to major in fine arts. Because I had not studied art myself and lacked some art expertise, I wanted to teach her some of the techniques I had innovated in fabric embroidery. She is young and cultured, and after being trained by the national higher education, she can also better improve the craft of fabric embroidery and make it a higher level. (End)
