Driving in the middle of the night, I encountered three small wild boars "rolling the road"
The Yangtze Evening News Purple Cow News reporter saw in the video taken by Ms. Xu that the three wild boars were not very large and were in no hurry to wander on the road near the intersection of Meihuagu Road and Cemetery Road. When they saw a car coming, they neither panicked nor showed a defensive state, but appeared to be embarrassed. A friend of Ms. Xu's who was sitting in the co-pilot's seat also filmed a video of three wild boars.
Ms. Xu told reporters that at about 11 p.m. on October 18, she and a few friends drove to the Purple Mountain area for a ride, and did not expect to "meet" these small wild boars. "When we were about to drive to this intersection, we saw that they were already walking on the road, and we slowed down early, thinking at first that they were dogs." Ms. Xu said that after seeing that it was three small wild boars, she was worried about being hit by other passing vehicles, so she drove the vehicles slowly forward and drove them into the woods on the side of the road.
Interestingly, not far from the intersection, they saw a sign on the side of the road that read, "Wildlife Infestation, Please Be Safe," which depicts a wild boar.

Netizens praised Nanjing's ecology, and experts reminded them to avoid it
After Ms. Xu posted the video she took online, a number of netizens left messages saying that they had also seen wild boars in the Purple Mountain area. Some netizens attributed the appearance of wild boars to the good ecological environment in Nanjing, especially in the Purple Mountain area.
In recent years, wild boars have appeared from time to time in areas around Nanjing Purple Mountain or even farther away. In June 2019, two palm-sized wild boar pups were found on the Purple Mountain Trail and sent to the Wildlife Shelter and Rescue Center of the Red Mountain Forest Zoo. In October 2020, a large wild boar of about 200 kilograms "made a big fuss" at a milk tea shop near Olympic Sports Avenue, and was "arrested" by the police after four hours.
The media has reported that in March 2017, the first track of wild boar activity was found in the Purple Mountain North Ecological Conservation Area. By 2020, the number of wild boars in Purple Mountain has grown from 2 in 2017 to more than 30, and the number is still increasing. The management department said that because wild boars are "three haves" protected animals, they are consulting with relevant departments and urgently need relevant experts to guide them and arrest and control wild boars.
Experts remind that wild boars have strong aggression, so if encountered, they must be avoided. Even wild boar pups should not be approached or touched, on the one hand, if the baby wild boar has a human odor, it will lead to being abandoned by the adult wild boar; on the other hand, the adult wild boar may be nearby and may attack because of "protecting the cubs".
