Zhang Zhizhong, born in 1890, formerly known as Ben Yao (本尧), was a native of Huanglu Town, Chao County (now Chaohu City), Anhui Province, a backbone general of the Huangpu clan and a second-class general in the Army of the Chinese National Revolutionary Army. In 1932, he was the commander of the Fifth Army during the "1.28" Battle of Songhu, resisting the Japanese invasion of China in Shanghai. After the Liberation War, Zhang Zhizhong was called "General of Peace" in recognition of his contributions to peace in China.
Zhang Zhizhong's daughter, Zhang Zhizhong, chairman of the Chinese Education Foundation and leader of overseas Chinese in the United States, said: "Last year was the 130th anniversary of my father's birth, because the epidemic was serious at that time and I could not come back, so it was postponed to today. This year marks the 110th anniversary of the Xinhai Revolution, so it is very meaningful to hold this event today. ”
Zhang Sujiu told the China News Service reporter that her father took "bite the ginger and drink vinegar" as a life motto, and often warned her to always remember to do things for the people and overcome difficulties when encountering difficulties. "I was most influenced by my father is education, living in the United States for many years, I have been committed to promoting Sino-US folk culture and education exchanges and exchanges, especially the exchange of young people, I think the relationship between China and the United States is related to the next generation, which is a good foundation."
Zhang Bojun, vice chairman of the Central Committee of the Revolutionary Committee of the Chinese Kuomintang, said: Mr. Zhang Zhizhong has always adhered to the upright and patriotic stand, and his outstanding contributions to promoting cooperation between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party and to the cause of the national democratic revolution will never be forgotten by the state and the people.
Liu Lin, deputy mayor of Chaohu City, said that Mr. Zhang Zhizhong has a deep sense of sangzi, he has founded Huanglu Primary School and Huanglu Normal School, every time he returns to his hometown, he has to go to Huanglu Normal School to give a speech, donate money and materials to the school many times, and advocate afforestation, construction of rural roads, creation of libraries, hospitals, etc., showing the love of Yin Yin.
On the same day, a commemorative ceremony was held in Zhang Zhizhong's hometown, where Zhu Yishan, the grandson of General Zhang Zhizhong, delivered a speech on behalf of his mother Zhang Sujiu, and Zhang Zhizhong's descendants and relatives, as well as graduates of Huanglu Normal School, also visited Zhang Zhizhong's former residence, memorial hall, and Huanglu Normal School.
