Winter【How do animals spend the winter】

It's winter soon, and when winter comes, the climate becomes very cold, most areas will snow, even freeze, and people need to wear large cotton jackets. So, how do animals in winter survive the winter?

1. Hibernate for winter

Such animals include snakes, frogs, turtles, turtles, bears, hedgehogs, bats, etc. Such animals are temperate animals or heterothermal animals, when the temperature drops to a certain point, the animal's nerves will enter a paralyzed state, when the temperature rises to a certain point, the animal will wake up.

Snakes hibernate when the temperature drops below about 13 ° C in late autumn, often hibernate in groups (it is beneficial to maintain the temperature and air humidity in the cave), and can sleep with various snakes. Frogs hibernate underwater or burrows when the weather gets cold in late autumn, and return to the water to breed when the weather warms up in the following spring.

The tortoise hibernates when the temperature drops below 10 degrees Celsius, lies still in the mud at the bottom of the pool or lies in the loose soil covered with straw, and does not eat until the beginning of April, when the temperature rises above 15 °C, the turtle begins to resume activities and feed in large quantities.

Hedgehogs hibernate when the temperature drops to 7°C in late autumn and don't wake up until the following spring, when the temperature warms up to a certain level. During hibernation, the hedgehog shrinks into the mud hole, curls up, and the body temperature drops to 6 ° C, does not eat or move, barely breathes much, and the heartbeat is surprisingly slow.

2. Migrate through the winter

Such animals include geese, swallows, cuckoos, orioles, geese, swans, and wild ducks. Migratory birds can be divided into two types: summer migratory birds and winter migratory birds. Summer migratory birds include geese, swallows, cuckoos, yellow orioles, etc., in the spring and summer to fly to a certain area to build a nest, have children, young birds grow up, it is late autumn, and then fly to the warmer areas in the south for winter, and then fly to this area to breed in the following spring. Winter migratory birds, including geese, swans, wild ducks, etc., overwinter in a certain area, fly to the north to breed in the spring of the following year, and when the young birds grow up, it is late autumn and fly to the original area for wintering.

3. Moult through the winter

Such animals include squirrels, rabbits, deer, foxes, sparrows, crows, cows, sheep, horses, pigs, monkeys, etc. Before winter comes, they will mostly grow fat, and they will change into thick warm winter coats, animals will change their hair, and birds will change their feathers. They will also warm up the nest mats and find reserve food for pine towers, hazelnuts, acorns and so on.
