overview
Some of my friends have pollen allergies*. Unexpectedly, these small partners who are allergic to pollen may be allergic to other foods at the same time, such as apples, bananas, etc. This is a typical cross-allergy: pollen-food allergy. vice versa. That is, small partners who are allergic to apples and bananas will also have allergic reactions to different pollens at the same time.
*Pollen allergy, or hay fever, often causes a series of allergy symptoms in the eyes, nose and throat, such as photophobia, nasal congestion, and difficulty breathing.
principle
How does food cross allergy arise? The main reason is protein. As introduced in the first two special topics, the protein in food is recognized by the immune system as a dangerous substance, releasing histamine, causing symptoms such as redness and swelling of the body, vomiting, etc., that is, activating immune defense, that is, allergic reactions.
For pollen-food cross allergies, when the proteins in fruits, vegetables, nuts, and spices are similar to the proteins in pollen, those who are allergic to pollen will be allergic to these fruits, vegetables and other foods. vice versa.
Case
Reedella counted common cases of pollen-food allergies to help friends with allergic reactions prevent other potential allergic reactions in advance. Including: ragweed pollen, birch pollen, wormwood pollen 3 kinds.

In September last year, Changchun launched a city-wide activity to remove ragweed. It is reported that when ragweed blooms in autumn, it will have a great impact on the lives of local people with allergic rhinitis. In the patient's words, it is even "painful".

What is the problem with the intake of food additives such as sulfur dioxide, and even after eating exercise can cause allergies?
Food additives: sulfur dioxide and sulfites
Sulfur dioxide and other 5 sulfites, including potassium metabisulfite, sodium metabisulfite, sodium sulfite, sodium bisulfite, and sodium hyposulfite, are nationally approved food additives. Added in food mainly plays the role of bleaching, antiseptic, antioxidant. Sulfur dioxide and sulfur-containing compounds can be added to more than 20 types of food (from GB 2760 General Rules for the Use of Food Additives). As shown in the following figure:
See the wine? Sulfur dioxide is naturally produced when wine and beer are fermented, and in addition to being produced by natural fermentation, sulfur dioxide is allowed to be added to the wine in addition to it.
People prone to allergies:
Patients with asthma and allergic rhinitis.
Relevant marking regulations:
In the UK and EU, prepackaged foods that contain more than 10 mg of sulphur dioxide or sulfite per kilogram or liter of product must be marked on the label to warn consumers;
In China, sulfur dioxide or sulfite is not yet a mandatory warning message, that is, enterprises can voluntarily choose whether to label the label "this product contains sulfur dioxide" and other similar warning information, but if the product is added sulfur dioxide for corrosion protection, it must be marked in the ingredient list.
Food additives: benzoic acid and benzoates
Similar to sulfur dioxide, benzoic acid, sodium benzoate, sodium methylparaben, and sodium ethyl parahydroxybenzoate are also nationally approved additives, mainly used in beverages to exert antiseptic functions (prevent mold and yeast growth). Fruits and honey also naturally contain benzoates.
Vigilant population: Children with asthma and eczema who take products containing benzoates can deepen their symptoms. This also explains why it is not recommended to feed honey to infants under 1 year of age.
Exercise triggers food allergies
Soon after ingesting certain foods, I feel itchy skin, dizziness, and I don't know that my friends who exercise regularly do not have a similar experience? This turned out to be an allergic reaction. The Mayo Clinic named this exercise-induced food allergy. It is reported that when the reaction is serious, it can even cause life-threatening.
What foods can trigger an exercise allergy? There is currently no in-depth study in this area. However, the mayo clinic recommends that patients who have this reaction not eat for a period of time before exercise and avoid foods that may trigger a reaction.

Food allergies are more common in european and American populations
According to food allergy research & Education, every 3 minutes an American patient is admitted to the hospital for an allergic reaction. In contrast, Chinese have a much lower severity of food allergies.
Allergic reactions are not yet curable
However, small partners with allergic reactions may be very surprised to find that with age, allergic reactions to milk and eggs have disappeared. Yes, that's the peculiarity of allergic reactions. However, allergies to some foods, such as peanuts and shrimp, may last a lifetime, so strictly avoid these allergens, and carefully check the food label when buying food, you can avoid allergies to the greatest extent.
