In 2020, in order to make good use of the idle land, Kwong Wan Mu Ecological Farm leased hundreds of mu of land in three villages to plan organic vegetable planting to help rural development.

But the land is leased, what is the next step? Several people in charge of the Kwong Wanmu Ecological Farm did not have a clear idea, and later, by chance, Zhao Boshen, a northerner, joined the farm and brought the idea of introducing ice vegetable planting.

In December 2020, the first batch of 120 mu of ice vegetable seedlings were transported from Shandong to Sancun, and through cooperation with the Yingde Limin Agricultural Machinery Professional Cooperative, the planting was completed by mechanized means. It is worth mentioning that the batch of ice vegetables tends to grow naturally, all using plant-fermented organic fertilizers, without the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides, and manual weeding during the period to ensure quality.

In mid-March, the reporter saw on the farm that the ice vegetables in the field had been green and oily, each ice vegetable was spaced more, there were more petals, and the leaves were more fat, and the petiole was covered with a thin layer of "dew", which looked crystal clear, like ice particles. According to the staff who are picking, the ice vegetables grow more luxuriantly, and a mature ice vegetable can weigh more than 10 pounds, mainly picking the tender parts of the above to eat.

Zhao Boshen said that because of the use of organic fertilizer, coupled with natural planting in the field, the growth cycle of larger shed planting doubled, and affected by the yield of mu and other factors, ice vegetable planting costs are higher, the price is relatively higher than the average vegetable, the market price is about 10-15 yuan / pound.

Zhao Boshen also mentioned that because it is the first batch of trial seeds, the yield can not be determined (it is expected to yield 1000-1500 jin per mu), and only a few hundred jin are currently listed, and the farm generally accepts reservations one day in advance, picks early the next morning, and delivers to home through express delivery on the same day. "It's not the best production period yet, usually until April, and the more production is, the price will go up."
