The trip to Banna was a bit hasty, there was not much time to do research, and the articles and strategies about the two night markets that I turned over were very general, so I had to piece together, while feeling the stones to cross the river, while foraging by the nose.
After a few days of shuttling through the west double scenery of The Village, I have a certain understanding of the pattern of the two major night markets. The Starlight Night Market is like a big river, with stalls on both sides, and behind the stalls are a row of shops;
The stage is like a sea, the scale is the first in "Southeast Asia", in this vast ocean, in addition to relying on eyes and smell, but also relying on the double protection of the god of food and the goddess of luck.
Not long before the departure of this Banna tour last year, I flew to Harbin and walked through the Shida Night Market, recalling the night full of satisfaction, and making us both look forward to the night safari in Xishuangbanna.

Go to the Starlight Night Market first.
The Three Sisters Bbq is relatively easy to locate, just under the archway of the Starlight Night Market. But don't expect to use the "three sisters" as an identification sign, anyway, we did not see one on the day, and the waiter girl also said that because the three sisters bosses were not there, even the chicken feet could not be provided.
Thankfully, other dishes are rich in choice, with a grand lineup, and there is a kind of excitement of reviewing the honor guard, but there is also the confusion of too difficult choices, you can either pick a few extravagant dishes and slowly taste them.
▲One of the big dishes is beef with dried rice. The meat slices are generally salty and fragrant, not like the common sour and spicy Dai style, but they are also accompanied by cucumbers, dipped water, and chili noodles, which are combined according to their preferences and wrapped in dried rice.
Rice clean white thorough... Unless it's several sheets picked up at the same time. The big brother of the stall said that the raw material of dried rice is glutinous rice, no wonder it is easy to stick together, and it is more difficult to extract.
▲ Another big dish is the vegetable bun fish, the girl led the two of us to choose from the ingredients listed in Chen, it looks like a grilled fish sandwiched by bamboo sticks, which is not the same as the vegetable bun fish in the understanding, but the taste is the most important.
The result is the best grilled fish tasted in Xishuangbanna for a few days. There are rivers near dai villages, not to mention the Lancang River, which is rich in aquatic resources, so fish dishes are really homely, depending on which one cooks the method.
The most common local is the tilapia, which is cut in half and spread out flat, sprinkled with sauce, re-folded on both sides of the fish and sandwiched between the bamboo pieces, and then served over a charcoal fire.
The waiter girl suggested that we both try the tempeh version, which was indeed just the right amount of stimulation, not very spicy but enough to enjoy. Under the fire attack, the soy sauce pepper is full of flavor, turning the earthy fish of the tilapia itself into an aroma.
Compared with the Grilled Chicken of Manfeilong and the Grilled Fish of the Yuhan Dai Family Package, this volume is several yards larger, but the meat quality has not aged because of this, but it is wet and moderate, obviously the heat is precise, and the raw and cooked are just grasped at the critical point.

Our pig nose sniffs, and the strange smell of steaming is like meat in the kitchen in the summer, which is instinctively unpleasant.
However, just like the stinky tofu, stinky mandarin fish and other "stinky words" alternative, or moldy, Musang King, blue cheese and other "anti-human" strange things, how smelly, eat how fragrant, only through the stench in front of the head, can enjoy the incense behind.
There are no drinks at the Three Sisters BBQ and can only be purchased elsewhere. Among them, L's dragon fruit mango juice comes from the stall behind the three sisters, cutting the fruit in person, super thick and super sweet, and can also chew the small lump flesh, if you really encounter a very spicy dish, there is absolutely no problem in extinguishing the fire.
I don't know how beautiful the three sisters are, but their food is really beautiful, so that the two of us are more full of reverie about other Yunnan barbecue celebrities such as Zhaotong Skewers, Shiping and Jianshui Grilled Tofu.

After eating the Starlight Night Market, head to the market and pass by Shwedagon Pagoda. Majestic and golden, the Shwedagon Pagoda lives up to its name.
In the view of the district, "big" is not due to the total height of 66.6 meters, but the meaning of the number, representing the Lancang/Mekong River connecting the six countries of China, Myanmar, Laos, Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam, which is very much in line with the grand overall view of the "Belt and Road".

"Gold", on the other hand, is obvious, and the colorful lights are not abrupt. However, in addition to the golden light and magnificence, there are also the gods standing high on the stupa, solemnly and silently staring at and protecting the sentient beings at their feet.
There are four dragon paths around the tower that lead to the four directions, of which the steps down the south side are our destination. Perhaps thanks to the patronage of the gods of the Shwedagon Pagoda, the night market is full of tourists and lights like stars, the scale is as shocking as the Shwedagon Pagoda, the area is exaggerated, and people do not know where to start.

The Six Kingdoms Floating Market, like the 66.6-meter height of the Shwedagon Pagoda, also symbolizes the six kingdoms, and also has its own areas, but the merchants and goods are actually the same, and the farther away from the entrance, the more deserted the façade, and most of the outer shops are empty.
However, how bad the investment is, the landscape is all made up. Under the skyline of the "Nine Towers and Twelve Villages" in the west of The Village, the Lancang River at night is exceptionally quiet and leisurely, and the neon lights of gold and blue illuminate the antique wooden low buildings, and the beauty complements the five colors of the Shwedagon Pagoda.
The river surface looks very clean, no garbage, no floating algae, no oil stains, just like the clear mirror reflects the scene is particularly moving, adding to the water village.
On the way back to the hotel from the floating market, I met Aunt Millen and tasted a chicken foot and mango at the "Dai Family Cold Sauce" stall diagonally opposite her.
