By the end of 2020, the total area of camellia oleifera forests in the city was 4.4721 million mu, with an annual output of 69,800 tons of tea oil, and the total output value of the camellia oleifera industry increased from 3.7 billion yuan in 2016 to 21.917 billion yuan in 2020, an increase of 492.35%. The city's camellia oleifera forest area, tea oil production and annual output value of camellia oleifera have ranked first among prefecture-level cities in the country for many years, and have cultivated 3 national forestry key leading enterprises and 23 provincial forestry leading enterprises, connecting radiation bases to more than 1 million mu.
The city will promote the scale development of the city's oil tea industry by expanding the new area, paying close attention to low reform and efficiency, and encouraging large-scale operation. The municipal party committee and the municipal government proposed that by the end of the "14th Five-Year Plan", the area of oil tea forests in the city will be developed to 5 million mu, and the output value will exceed the "double 500" target of 50 billion yuan. The forestry department issued a rolling plan for the production of camellia oleifera until 2025, and the city plans to complete the new production of 600,000 mu of camellia oleifera.
The city is promoting the three-year action plan for the low reform of camellia oleifera, and in 2022, it will complete the transformation of 233,000 mu of low-yield forests, and vigorously promote the business models of "company + base + farmer" and "company + cooperative + base" to promote enterprises and farmers to become economic interest communities with shared benefits and shared risks.
