When the tide recedes

The lively and prosperous intertidal zone is revealed

This special environment is inhabited by many "coastal residents"

They are super adaptable

Play a person-specific role in this environment

Together, they form a biome in the coastal intertidal zone

7/24-25

The sun is slowly setting

A group of young figures appeared on the beach of Guanyin Mountain

They are students from Tianxin Island Elementary School

You're about to step into the intertidal zone to discover the secrets of living things

Equipment should not be forgotten before exploring

Intertidal Observation Manual, headlamp

Gloves, tweezers, reflective vest

The "Catch the Sea Five-Piece Set" helped students better observe the intertidal zone

Different "coastal residents" because of different habits

The area of residence is also not much the same

So divide the entire intertidal zone into 3 areas

The students' task is to find the designated creatures in each area

To the intertidal zone

The kids were curious about everything here

Observe with enthusiasm

Intertidal, reef creatures

"Teacher, what is this?"

"The teacher is coming, and I have found a new creature!"

In this particular environment

The children are also very active and attentive

Bright eyes seem to be able to discover a lot of "hidden stories"

#1

Step into the intertidal zone

During observation

One student spotted a strangely shaped shell

"Where did you find this?"

"In the dirt over there."

"What was it when you saw it, and was it just lying on the ground in its entirety?"

"No, it's a whole thing stuck in the dirt, only a little bit exposed outside."

"Students, this is just Jiang Jue, and Jiang Jue is generally tightly inserted in the dirt." We have all eaten scallops, and the dried scallops are Jiang Jue's posterior closed shell muscles. ”

Jiang Jue belongs to the double-shell shell, its shell is large and thin, the anterior tip is wide and the back is wide, and it is wedge-shaped. The surface has radial ribs with small spines of a triangle slightly diagonally posterior. The color is light brown to black brown, and slightly transparent when young. The feet are hairy and very developed. It lives with the tip of the shell inserted upright into the sediment, and fixes the seabed with its filaments, and when gathered together, it seems to be a stone forest on the seabed. Once settled, they never move again for life. Jiang Jue to some single-celled algae and organic detritus as the main food, its posterior closed shell muscle is very developed, accounting for about 1/3 of the body length, large and round, tender and delicious meat, rich in nutrition, its dried products are Jiang Juezhu. Jiang jue is mainly distributed in tropical and subtropical coasts, and China has the largest production in the coastal areas of Guangdong and Fujian.

In addition to Jiang Jue, he also picked up a "guest" who made the children very excited - starfish.

"Oh my God, is this really starfish?" It looks like a big star! ”

"This is called the Chinese five-pointed starfish, you carefully observe its step belt ditch to see what is there?"

"There are a lot of transparent little suction cups like that"

Yes, that's its tube foot. You take the tweezers and touch it gently."

"Ha, they're all indented"

The tube foot can help the starfish move or cling to other objects, and it can also help it consume food.

Starfish are the most representative class of echinoderms in structural physiology. The body is flat, mostly five-radiant symmetry, and the division between the body disc and the wrist is not obvious. In life, the mouth is facing downwards and the reverse mouth is facing upwards. The ventral side of the wrist has a step groove, and the tube foot protrudes from the groove.

Pippi shrimp, scorpion shrimp, Chinese spiny sea gills... With the help of the light emitted by the headlamp, the attentive students found one interesting creature after another in the dark intertidal zone

When arriving at the reef area, the teacher first showed the students this part of the creatures to be found

Creatures in this part are either clinging to the reef or hiding in crevices.

In order to facilitate everyone's record, parents took out their mobile phones and took pictures.

In this reef area, you can generally see the Japanese spiny stone turtle, the longitudinal ishi anemone, the four-toothed large-front crab...

There are also some small puddles on the reef, and everyone gathers around the small puddles to listen to the teacher's explanation.

"A small puddle on the rock, we call it a 'tide pool'"

At high tide, it is filled with water; at low tide, it is in a low-lying place, and the water has not been lost, and it has become what we usually call a tide pool.

Don't look at it as a small pool, but it is also a small ecosystem, and many creatures also depend on it."

For example, anemones.

You see, what's different about this anemone?

"It opened up, really like a sunflower"

I believe that after this intertidal exploration activity

Students about the creatures on the beach of Guanyin Mountain

And their relationship

There will definitely be more to know about it

At last

Let's get to know each other
