The difficult things under the world must be done easily, and the great things under the world must be done in detail. - Tao Te Ching
Nowadays, there is a popular saying in society: "Details determine success or failure". As everyone knows, the ancients have long summed up the relationship between big things and small things.
From Lao Tzu's saying that "the great things under the heavens must be done in detail" to The later Han Yu's "The tangible kind, the big must start from the small; the things that have been done for a long time, the clan must rise from the small", all of them show that in order to become a big thing, it must start from the daily small things to accumulate day by day. Saints never achieve great things directly in one fell swoop, but do every little thing in a down-to-earth manner and ultimately achieve great deeds.
Zhao Liangdong, a famous general of the Qing Dynasty, fought all his life, made great and small military achievements, and was posthumously awarded the title of Count of Yipin. His accolade is well deserved. And the reason why he can achieve this is precisely because he has been making easy and meticulous all his life; starting from small and starting from less.

The results of small things can often become the decisive factor in the success or failure of big things, and only by not ignoring any small thing and details can we achieve final success. Zhao Liangdong is best known for his anecdote, which is the story of saving the whole army through a group of ants when he went to the toilet.
At that time, Zhao Liangdong was ordered to attack MishuGuan, and the large army he led had just finished camping. Zhao Liangdong had diarrhea due to the dissatisfaction of the water and soil, but after he was finished, he suddenly ordered the whole army to be transferred immediately. His men were puzzled and didn't know what was going on. But Zhao Liangdong was very resolute, and even issued another order, "Cut the offender!" "The generals obeyed, even if they were full of doubts.
So the army had to re-open and find another place to settle down. I didn't think that as soon as they had finished moving, the sky was raining like a torrential rain, and in a few moments, the place where the army had just camped had been flooded. All the generals were shocked and respectful of Zhao Liangdong. Zhao Liangdong said, "I just found that many ants have begun to move, and I know that the ground is very hot, which is just a precursor to the heavy rain in the sky." "
Zhao Liangdong finally saved the whole army by relying on small ants, which on the surface may only show that he understands this natural phenomenon, but in fact, from this matter, we can see Zhao Liangdong's intentions in the small things around him. Even as small as a swarm of ants, he did not turn a blind eye, but received an important warning from it.
Julius Caesar of the West also said that in war, major events are often the consequences of small things. It can be seen that small things are not small, and small things turn out to be an important basis for the success of big things.
<h1 class= "pgc-h-arrow-right" > small things need to be accumulated</h1>
Making a small thing may not mean anything, but if you can always make a small thing a daily routine and become an accumulation, the final explosion of the effect will be amazing.
In the nineteenth year of the Kangxi Dynasty, when Zhao Liangdong was ordered to return to Sichuan, the rebels lined up along the banks of the Jialing River as they marched into the Baishui Dam. At that time, when the river was rising, the ships were difficult to pass, and the rebels fiercely resisted the random arrows, Zhao Liangdong ordered his subordinates to attack in the direction pointed by his whip, and dared to retreat from the latter and cut! The whole army answered the promise.
Subsequently, Zhao Liangdong personally crossed the river on horseback, and the whole army followed, although dozens of people were wounded by the rebel artillery bows and arrows, none of them retreated. The rebels saw that Zhao Liangdong's army was so imposing, they fled in panic, and eventually collapsed. Later, the team led by Zhao Liangdong was like a bamboo, and the rebels were gradually defeated and retreated. In the end, Zhang Wende, appointed by Wu Sangui, surrendered and Chengdu was recaptured, just ten days after the day zhao Liangdong sent his troops.
It can be said that in this battle, the amazing courage and sacrifice spirit of the soldiers led by Zhao Liangdong are admirable. Everyone knows that this spirit can certainly not be produced out of thin air, which is inseparable from Zhao Liangdong's usual attitude toward his subordinates.
This has to say that a year before this battle, Zhao Liangdong gave him all the 100,000 taels of silver that the imperial court gave to himself to his soldiers, and the soldiers were grateful to him, and Zhao Liangdong's prestige was even better than before. This is where the bamboo breakers in the battle of the second year were born. And such a superior-subordinate relationship cannot be accumulated through a reward, it must be that Zhao Liangdong has always been kind to his subordinates and won the hearts of the army.
This also fully shows that Zhao Liangdong attaches great importance to getting along with the soldiers in his daily life, and everywhere he starts to establish prestige from small things, unify the army's heart, and increase the cohesion of the army, and finally win the battle. Therefore, small things are also valuable in accumulation and persistence, if you only hold the Buddha's feet temporarily, the Buddha will not take care of you.
<h1 class="pgc-h-arrow-right" > everything is a small thing</h1>
The Kangxi Emperor once commented on Zhao Liangdong, saying: Zhao Liangdong has a good moral integrity, restores Yunnan, and Qiu has committed no crimes... It can be seen that in addition to his outstanding military achievements, Zhao Liangdong also has outstanding features in his conduct for people. And this is also another proof that Zhao Liangdong does every little thing well. Because only when he took every little thing seriously as a "thing" could he be so praised by the emperor.
In the twentieth year of Shi Kangxi, Zhao Liangdong asked for orders to pacify Yunnan, and he led an army with Zhangtai and others to attack the city of Kunming. After the city was destroyed, he not only restrained his subordinates from strict military discipline, did not take any advantage of the situation, did not hurt the people, and handed over all the large sums of wealth accumulated by Wu Sangui over the years to the imperial court.
And when he saw that Zhangtai instructed his subordinates to rob the property and population, he also resolutely intervened to stop it. The history books also record the situation at that time: "The safety of the women and children of the Dian people is inseparable, and the strength of all the good people is also there."
Wu Sangui's operation of more than 20 years from zhenshou Yunnan is staggering, but for Zhao Liangdong, this is insignificant compared with the ultimate goal of recovering Yunnan. Those belongings were nothing more than worth mentioning in Zhao Liangdong's eyes. On the contrary, his attitude towards the common people not only prohibits his subordinates from plundering, but also requires his colleagues not to offend civilians.
In fact, for a general, it does not matter to him how civilians are, he only needs to be able to win the final victory is to successfully fulfill his duties. But let me ask you, if a general allows his colleagues to plunder and harm the people at will, how can he gain the praise of the emperor and the history books and leave his name in the future generations?
It can be seen that the achievement of great achievements is not to stick to that brilliant achievement, but to come step by step and steadily, and not to lower the requirements for yourself in any small matter. Everything is actually a small thing, but every little thing must be done well, otherwise how can it become a big thing. Just like how a house does not sweep the world. Small things are not done, big things are not done.
<h1 class= "pgc-h-arrow-right" > small things become big things</h1>
Throughout his life, Zhao Liangdong treated the people, things, and things around him wholeheartedly. He is keen and attentive to the environment; he is kind and just to the people; he treats his subordinates with his heart. Such a person who pays attention to everything and is proper in everything, if there is no achievement, it is unexpected.
The so-called no accumulation of steps, there is no way to go thousands of miles. It must be the small things that make the big things, and the details that make the perfect. To be a human being, we must start from small things, everything is right, everything is detailed, and everything is good; only in the end can big things be accomplished, big things are right, and big things are good. Insisting on doing small things is to insist on continuous efforts in the right direction of achieving big things; the direction is right, and the efforts are also there, so why worry about the big things in the end?
