Adults are 10–12 mm long , with a wingspan of 20–35 mm , a purplish-blue wing surface , a black outer margin of the forewings , and a fine black and white margin on the outer edge of the hindwings. The wings are greyish brown on the back, with brown margins, and both wings have black edges. The hindwings have 2 bands with crescent-striped white edges on the inside, and the wing stems have 3 black spots, all with white circles. The caudal process is slender and the ends are white.
