China's Ministry of Labor and Social Security has set up a new occupational assessment - nutrition catering staff, and the establishment of this occupation has aroused great concern in society. In recent years, the number of diseases caused by malnutrition in many parts of China is decreasing, but various "civilized diseases" such as hypertension, cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, and diabetes are rising year by year. This has put forward a new topic for the Chinese people who have solved the problem of food and clothing and become rich -- the establishment of scientific eating habits. It was in this context that the nutritional catering staff came into being. Yu Ruomu, honorary president of the Chinese Nutrition Society and a well-known nutrition expert, commented on this initiative and believed that this new profession will contribute to improving the health quality of the Chinese nation, reducing civilized diseases, eliminating malnutrition diseases, and promoting health projects in the 21st century. According to the statistics of the China Cuisine Association, there are about 400,000 restaurants, canteens, fast food, catering enterprises and other business units in China, and 12 million registered chefs, but there are less than 10,000 talents who understand professional nutrition knowledge. It is estimated that the demand gap for professional nutrition talents in China has reached 4 million people.
