He Zhide, 80 years old, born in Yinzhou District, Ningbo City, graduated from the Tea Science Department of Zhejiang Agricultural University (now merged into Zhejiang University) in 1963 and was assigned to Dongyang to engage in tea production promotion and research for 38 years. In the past 38 years, he has witnessed the development and growth of the Dongyang tea industry.
Nowadays, He Zhide, who has long retired, has not given up the tea business, he has written and published tea-related papers, experimental reports, scientific and technological science articles have reached about 800,000 words, and has edited or participated in the co-editing of books such as "Tea Production Technology", "Dongyang Tea Culture", "Tea Ask Dongyang" and so on, and continues to contribute to the research of Dongyang tea culture and the development of the tea industry.
Hike for 10 hours to climb Dongbai Mountain
Speaking of Dongyang tea, Dongbaishan is a hurdle that cannot be bypassed, and the story of He Zhide and tea also begins from Dongbaishan. In 1965, not long after graduation, He Zhide became an ordinary technician at Weishan Agricultural Technology Station, engaged in the promotion and research of tea technology.
"The day after I went to Weishan Agricultural Technology Station, I went up to Dongbaishan with my colleagues to investigate, and that trip to Dongbaishan made me unforgettable." He Zhide said that they set off from weishan agricultural technology station at 5 a.m., walked along the potholed road to the Dongfanghong Reservoir in Hulu Town, and then crossed more than 40 kilometers of mountain roads, reaching the top of the mountain at night.
"I couldn't sleep at night, my legs were tingling and cramping, and I had a few large blood blisters on the soles of my feet." He Zhide recalled that at that time, he lived in a mud embryo room, just blocking the rain, no matter the wind, the wet and cold air blew into the room, and the bedding was like soaking water, covering the body uncomfortable.
The harsh environment and harsh conditions once made He Zhide retreat. "At that time, I felt that I couldn't hold on any longer, and I had the idea of transferring work." He Zhide said that dongyang lacks professional and technical personnel in tea, and the dongyang government also attaches great importance to the promotion and research of tea production, and he finally chose to stay.
This stay is a lifetime. "My wife's job was transferred from Ningbo to Dongyang, my children grew up in Dongyang, and our family has completely integrated into Dongyang." He Zhide said that Dongyang was his second hometown.
The self-created "glass tube method" was promoted throughout the province
At the end of the 1960s, a new pest occurred in a large number of tea gardens in Dongyang - tea long white borer infestation, and in the tea garden where this insect infestation occurred, the tea trees died as if they were burned, and many tea farmers were anxious.
"Before, Dongyang did not have a record of this pest and disease, and the school did not learn about the control of this pest and disease, and everything had to start from scratch." He Zhide was uneasy about sleeping and eating, and insisted on observing and studying in the victim tea garden for a long time. Kung Fu pays off, he created his own "glass tube method", accurately mastered the biological learning of tea long white borer, and applied pesticides in a timely and appropriate manner during the incubation of long white worm eggs, effectively controlling pests and helping tea farmers solve their urgent needs.
He Zhide introduced that the tea long white borer parasitizes on the branches of tea trees to suck sap, the victim tea tree germinates rarely, the tree is weak, it is not old before it is old, a large number of leaves fall when it is serious, and even dies, which is a very powerful tea tree pest. "The larvae of the tea-growing white borer are so small that they cannot be seen with the naked eye." He Zhide said that the conditions were simple at that time, and he borrowed a binocular microscope from the Dongyang Corn Research Institute to finally solve the problem.
The successful experiment of the "glass tube method" has attracted great attention from the Tea Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences and the Provincial Department of Agriculture. In the summer of 1969, experts from the Tea Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences personally came to Dongyang to investigate the method points of the "glass tube method" observation. At the same time, the Provincial Department of Agriculture promoted Dongyang's prevention and control experience to all tea-producing counties and cities in the province, and the "Glass Pipe Method" was also successively included in 7 tea monographs such as "Tea Plant Disease and Pest Control" in China.
Develop "Longjing" tea to help farmers get rich
Longjing tea as China's first green tea public brand, the production area has strict regional restrictions, mainly divided into West Lake, Qiantang, Yuezhou and other 3 production areas, while Dongyang and Pan'an are included in the Longjing tea Yuezhou production area, which he Zhide credits.
In the 1980s, the export of Dongyang tea was blocked, and a large number of pearl tea pressed warehouses, and there was a situation of "difficulty in selling tea". "At that time, I got the news from my classmates in Hangzhou that Longjing tea was very good to sell, and a bold idea appeared in my mind." He Zhide said that they took advantage of the excellent natural quality of Dongyang Muhe tea and grafted the exquisite stir-frying process of "West Lake Longjing" to take the lead in boldly developing "Zhejiang Longjing" in the province.
The development of "Zhejiang Longjing" was first piloted in Shangzhou Village, Hulu Town, and after the successful pilot, it was then extended to Weishan Tea Factory. Due to the good quality, the Longjing tea produced by Weishan Tea Factory once occupied 60% of the Wuxi tea market, not only the dilemma of "selling tea" was solved, but the pockets of tea farmers were also bulging day by day. "At that time, weishan high-grade Longjing tea could sell for more than 200 yuan per kilogram, which was a considerable income." He Zhide said.
In August 1986, at the appraisal meeting of "Longjing, Zhejiang" in Dongyang City, Professor Zhang Tangheng, a well-known evaluation expert at home and abroad, made a high evaluation of Weishan Longjing tea, and wrote down the verse "Many teas in Zhejiang, the best quality of Longjing, the good technology of Weishan, and the identification of Weilong brand". The development of "Weilong Brand" Longjing laid the foundation for today's "East White Dragon Well", and also made Dongyang and Pan'an listed as one of the production areas protected by the origin of Longjing tea.
