As early as the Neolithic Age, 4000 to 5000 years ago, there were primitive tribal groups living here. In the sand dunes, hills and terraces of some islands around the Phoenix Mountains and at the mouth of the Pearl River, the remnants of the ancestors have been left; during the Warring States period, it was the land of Baiyue; the Qin and Han dynasties belonged to the jurisdiction of Nanhai County; the sixth year of Han Yuanding (111 BC) belonged to the jurisdiction of Panyu County; during the Three Kingdoms period, it belonged to the jurisdiction of the State of Wu; the Eastern Jin Dynasty and the sixth year (331) to the Southern and Northern Dynasties successively belonged to Dongguan County; the Sui and Tang Dynasties successively came under the jurisdiction of Bao'an County and Dongguan County; and in the second year of Tang Zhide (757) set up Xiangshan Town (present-day Zhuhai Shanchang) In the fifth year (1082) of the Northern Song Dynasty, Xiangshan Village was reorganized; in the 22nd year (1152) of shaoxing in the Southern Song Dynasty, Xiangshan County was set up under the administration of Guangzhou Prefecture; in 1925, in honor of Dr. Sun Yat-sen, Xiangshan County was renamed Zhongshan County; in 1952, Fishermen County was established, with the jurisdiction of Bao'an, Dongguan, and Zhongshan Counties as the administrative area of Fishermen County; in 1953 Fishermen County was officially renamed Zhuhai County, and Zhongshan Port Township belonged to Zhongshan County, Wanqingsha belonged to Dongguan County, and more than 100 islands near the mouth of the Pearl River were assigned to Zhuhai County. The county government was established in Tangjia; in 1979, Zhuhai County was changed to Zhuhai City, which is a provincial municipality; in 1980, a special economic zone was set up in Zhuhai, with an area of 6.81 square kilometers; in 1983, Doumen County was transferred to the jurisdiction of Zhuhai City, and the area of Zhuhai Special Economic Zone increased to 15.16 square kilometers; in 1984, Zhuhai City established a municipal district - Xiangzhou District; in 1988, the area of Zhuhai Special Economic Zone was adjusted to 121 square kilometers; in 2001, Doumen County was abolished and Zhuhai Doumen District and Jinwan District were established In 2009, Hengqin was included in the scope of Zhuhai Special Economic Zone; in 2010, the scope of Zhuhai Special Economic Zone was expanded to the whole city.
Zhuhai is one of the representative cities of Cantonese culture, one of the important starting points for Cantonese people to go overseas, and one of the earliest special economic zones established in China. It is the only city in China to be selected as one of the "Top 40 Tourist Resorts in China" for its overall urban landscape, and is a coastal city and a new garden city in China, with the reputation of "Happy City" and "Romantic City". Leaving Zhongshan City, driving southeast for 51 kilometers for 1 hour and 16 minutes, we came to Xiangzhou District of Zhuhai City.
Located on the coast of the South China Sea, on the west bank of the Pearl River Estuary, bordering Hong Kong to the east and Macau to the south, and backed by the economically developed hinterland of the Pearl River Delta, Xiangzhou District is the downtown area of Zhuhai, Guangdong Province, and the political, economic, cultural, transportation and financial center of Zhuhai. Jinwan District is located in the southwest of Zhuhai City, on the coast of the South China Sea between Modaomen and Yamen at the mouth of the Pearl River. It administers 4 towns and 2 industrial zones, with an area of 447.6 square kilometers and a total population of 210,000 people. Jinwan District is one of the three major administrative districts of Zhuhai City, and is an administrative district officially approved by the State Council in 2001. Doumen is located at the southwest end of the Pearl River Delta, the westernmost part of Zhuhai City, is the Zhuhai Ecological Zone, with a basic farmland protection area of 280,000 mu, accounting for 72.5% of the city. The total area of the area is 674.8 square kilometers, the permanent population is about 630,000, and there are 5 towns and 1 subdistrict under its jurisdiction. Doumen District is bordered by Zhongshan City to the east and Jiangmen City to the north, and is connected to the waters of Macau.
