Created by Pete Morgan et al., The Crown tells the story of what has happened in the British royal family and society since Elizabeth II ascended the throne in 1952. In the first two seasons, the Queen was played by Claire Foy; in the third and fourth seasons, the role was replaced by Oscar and Emmy winner Olivia Colman. The Crown re-selects the cast every two seasons to reflect the age changes in the characters.
