I. "Yang Xi's Personal Introduction"

Born in March 1988 in Tongchuan City, Shaanxi Province, he moved to Qingdao, Shandong Province with his parents. Since childhood, he has loved calligraphy and sports.

The university majored in architectural design, and the graduate students studied with Xiao Li, a doctoral supervisor and teacher of shaanxi provincial heritage protection center, and participated in a number of historical preservation projects and museum design work during the school, including the Nanjing Keju Museum, the Daming Palace Ruins Protection Project, as well as liping National Park Hotel, Chengdu Biennale and other projects.

In 2012, as an exchange student, he went to Taipei City, Taiwan Province to study and exchange, and conducted in-depth research in Taiwan, completing his master's thesis "Research on the Construction and Design of Exquisite Hotels in Taiwan under the Guidance of Cultural Assets".

He came to Australia in 2017 and joined PTW Architects as a Senior Project Professional. During his tenure, he participated in a number of villas, apartments, offices, commercial complexes, planning and other types of projects, involving a series of design phases such as competitions, DA and construction. These include the 88 Christie st, St Leonards project under construction, the DXN Tower project in Chinatown, which the DA has already passed, and the Scape student apartments.

Since joining the Australian Calligraphers Association in 2019, he has participated in many cultural exchanges and social activities organized by the association and has benefited a lot.

Later, in 2020, in view of his many participation in various calligraphy and painting activities of the Australian Book Association, each activity was proactive, pragmatic and enterprising, and he was deeply respected by the leadership, and he had the honor of serving as the artistic director. Then enter the backbone team. I am also often impressed by the talents and artistic achievements of the teachers, and even more impressed by the qualities of the erudite, outstanding, humble and kind artists. As a junior, it is a great honor and gratitude to be promoted by the leaders and seniors.

Since joining the Morning Broadcasting Group, both cultural knowledge and art architecture have improved dramatically over time.

Time flies, and in the blink of an eye, the "Architecture" column every Thursday will be broadcast for 100 issues. It is a great honor, and I hope that in the future art broadcast column, I can continue to dedicate more and better architectural knowledge encyclopedias to everyone. Share the joy of the "Architecture of Architecture" feast with the teachers.

This made me deeply feel the satisfaction and joy of paying for the morning broadcast. In the happy and harmonious learning space of the Australian Book Association, everyone learns from each other, makes progress together, and exchanges and grows.

Hello everyone. Today's announcement would like to introduce you to a project that I had the honor of participating in the design team when I was a graduate student, the Nanjing Keju Museum.

(1) Project overview

The Nanjing Museum of Chinese Imperial Examinations is located in the former site of the largest imperial examination hall in ancient China, "Jiangnan Gongyuan", adjacent to the Nanjing Confucius Temple, facing the Qinhuai River. In the 1300-year history of the imperial examination system, 51% of the champions have come out of here, and only the Mingyuan Building and the Feihong Bridge remain.

In 2012, the Nanjing Municipal Government decided to build the China Imperial Examination Museum on the site of the Jiangnan Gongyuan to comprehensively display the history of the imperial examination system and its impact on China and the world. The museum building has 4 floors underground, with a land area of 29,000 square meters and a total construction area of 27,000 square meters.

The construction unit is Nanjing Confucius Temple Cultural Tourism Group Co., Ltd., the design unit is Professor Liu Kecheng and his team of Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology, and the construction unit is Shanghai Construction Engineering Second Construction Group Co., Ltd. The nature of the land is a mixture of nanjing monuments, cultural entertainment and supporting facilities.

(2) Project characteristics

1. Continue the historical context

The design restarts the historical axis of Jiangnan Gongyuan, east of Taoyedu, south of Qinhuai River, west of Zhuangyuanjing, north of Jiankang Road, and the west side of the Confucius Temple to form a historical route of Zunkong, enrollment and scientific expedition.

2. Respect historical buildings

Located in the Confucius Temple Historic District of Nanjing, the building is designed to respect the surrounding architectural atmosphere and the visual center of the existing Mingyuan Building, and the main body of the museum is sunk underground, abandoning the elephant into invisibility. The roof is designed as a square pool, located in front of the Mingyuan Building, which looks like a brick and a mirror, skillfully handling the relationship between the old and new buildings.

3. Architectural concept using treasure crates

The design guides visitors to descend layer by layer along the ramp to the entrance hall of 21 meters underground, the ramp is sandwiched by tile walls and powder walls, and the scenery is different, and the bamboo wall of the museum can be seen through the scenery windows of different sizes, and the traditional Jiangnan street space is presented in a three-dimensional way in the museum tour line.

It was a great honor to be part of the museum's design team during my graduate years, and although we had already graduated at the same time when it was completed, we were still proud to hear that we had been selected for the Silver Award for Architectural Design creation in that year. The Nanjing Imperial Examination Museum has done an excellent job in continuing the historical context, and presents the connotation of a historical museum in a low-key and introverted manner. It is recommended that if you can go to Nanjing, you must visit it, which will make your trip worthwhile.

Well, that's the end of today's broadcast.

Thank you all for watching.
