Q: Can you tell us about the new single "Water Mirror Stranger"? Does the name have any meaning?
Song Yusen: This is an ancient pop song composed and produced by Mr. Lou Nanwei, who composed/arranged and produced it, and its name comes from the inspiration of an oil painting, and the song is named "Water Mirror Que Mo".
Q: If you were to use three words to describe "Water Mirror Stranger", what would you think?
Song Yusen: "Heart" - Don't forget the first "heart"
"Mirror" - "Mirror" for fun
"Sound" - "Sound" because of music
Q: The melody of the whole song sounds ethereal but also has a little tenderness, is there anything special about the creation?
Song Yusen: When I saw the words, the first feeling was "beauty", and then I composed the whole song in one go.
Q: I have tried many styles before, why did you choose the national style for this new work? What do you think is the biggest difference between this work and the previous one?
Gossen: I actually like folk music, but in recent years I've been experimenting with new genres of music, trying to get nourishment in different styles. The choice of timbre of the drum set and atmosphere in the production of this song is not a traditional national style instrument, but a base drum and snare drum with some timbre design, and the harmony is not carried out in the major key of the traditional national style with large paragraphs, using some harmonies with dull colors, and even the pipa that suddenly turns to a minor in the interlude with the string orchestra, like an embattled feeling.
Q: What if I don't have inspiration when I write songs? How long did the longest piece take?
Song Yusen: When you are not inspired, the whole person will relax, watch TV series or go out on a trip or something. Usually, as long as there is inspiration, a song will be written smoothly. Another partner of "inspiration" is called "confidence", and you can't affect your confidence in making music because you don't have enough inspiration. Whether you're a human being or making music, this is one of my guidelines!
Q: Singer-songwriters, music producers, etc., in fact, you have a lot of identities, which label do you think most want the public to recognize?
Song Yusen: At present, the most want to be recognized is the "music producer", although I am not a class to learn music production, but I am a class to learn vocal music, I always feel that the biggest gain from learning vocal music is to cultivate their own "understanding", which requires a lot of thinking and understanding. A song is like a painting, there are thousands of ways of expression, can be romantic, can be realistic, can also be modern, how do you describe the painting, how can your song be completely consistent with the rhyme of the words, how the style of arrangement and mixing makes the painting more layered, textured and deep, this is the reason why I like music production more and more.
Q: Now that the music market is becoming more and more diversified, from the previous cassettes and CDs to the current various listening software, do you think it is more challenging or more opportunities for singers? Like many singers have said before that it is difficult to sing, do you have such an experience in the process from creation to song?
Song Yusen: No matter how the environment changes, the original intention of making music will not change, it is just a change in the way and the carrier, and everything else is not important. No matter what kind of era, you can only change yourself in line with the times, and you can't extravagantly change the times. This is a truth that will not change at any time.
Q: Can you describe yourself in your own work?
Song Yusen: So far, it is "water mirror Que Mo". Constantly explore the various "possibilities" of music in the field of music, and "crawl up" in the pulse of time.
Q: What type of work will I share with you next?
Song Yusen: Personally, I think that in this era, making music should not have too strong purpose and planning, I make music more casually, make music with mood and state, and enjoy the process. Constantly try and learn a variety of music and styles, which one is done well and directly sent, do not think too much, because music needs to be simple and pure.
