Speaking at a ceremony at WHO headquarters in Geneva, Drogba said: "I am honoured to work with WHO to support its work to help people, especially young people in all countries, achieve the highest possible level of health. ”
DR Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, WHO Director-General, praised Dr Doroba, saying he is not only a legend in football, but also an active advocate for community health and sustainable development. Tedros said Drogba's support to WHO can help promote healthy lifestyles, promote the benefits of physical and physical activity for people, and alleviate the growing burden of noncommunicable diseases.
Tedros said: "Didier is a proven player on and off the pitch, playing a pivotal role. We are delighted that he has joined us around the world in encouraging people to achieve their physical and mental health and wellbeing goals through physical activity." He will also help mobilize the international community to promote sport as an important means of improving the physical and mental health and social well-being of all people, including helping with COVID-19 recovery efforts. ”

It is estimated that four out of five adolescents and one in four adults are physically inactive. Increasing physical inactivity has a negative impact on health systems, the environment, economic development, community well-being and quality of life. Regular physical activity, including physical activity, helps reduce the risk of high blood pressure, coronary heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and various cancers, including breast and colon cancer.
In addition to Mr. Drogba, WHO Goodwill Ambassadors include Brazilian football star Alisson Becker; Michael Bloomberg, founder of the Bloomberg Foundation for Philanthropy and three-time Mayor of New York City; Cynthia Jernotta, President of the Born Perfect Foundation; and former British Prime Minister Gordon Brown.
