According to the daily mail report on the 4th, Didier Drogba was awarded an honorary degree by a university in Côte d'Ivoire in recognition of his contribution to football in his home country and to help the West African country restore stability.

The former Chelsea star is credited with helping Côte d'Ivoire achieve peace. Drogba helped his country achieve a truce after leading Côte d'Ivoire to world cup qualification in 2005.
The 43-year-old star, who issued a desperate plea to combatants embroiled in the West African nation's ugly civil war, invited cameras into the dressing room of the Ivorian national team to deliver a passionate speech after their crucial victory over Sudan, prompting a five-year-long civil war to declare a ceasefire.
Drogba has also devoted his career to charity work, once donating a £3 million signing fee from his endorsement contract with Pepsi to a hospital in Côte d'Ivoire.
He owns a thriving charitable foundation and after a failed bid for president of the Ivorian Football Federation, he hopes to enter the football administration.
Drogba's outstanding work has now been recognised by the Association of Science and Technology (RUSTA), and the Chelsea legend accepted his honorary degree on proud days and looked smiling.
Drogba has also made significant progress in helping Africa develop football.
In 2020, Drogba was awarded the UEFA President's Award, with Alexander Cheferin calling the former Blues goalscorer a "pioneer".
Cheferin said Didier's achievements in his illustrious football career were heroes for millions of fans.
"He's a leader, he's a pioneer. As a player, I will remember his skill, strength and intelligence, but most importantly his insatiable desire to succeed. This trait is also reflected in his actions to help others off the pitch. ”
Accepting the UEFA President's Award last year, Drogba said: "There are many children in developing countries who have the potential not only to become footballers, but also to become doctors, teachers and engineers. ”
"That's why it's so important to help and support our young people achieve their dreams and ambitions."
