From October 28th to 31st, the contemporary drama "Daddy's Bed" starring Wang Xuexi and Zhou Minghan will be unveiled at the National Centre for the Performing Arts Theatre, which will face the family conflicts in contemporary society through the family dialogue between a father and daughter, bringing the audience a "heart-wrenching and wonderful" theater experience. On October 25, Wang Xuexi and Zhou Minghan, two leading actors, came to the Grand Theater to tell their minds about "Daddy's Bed".

Premiered in 2019, Daddy's Bed tells the story of fathers who have lost their wives and daughters who have lost their mothers, and how they deal with grief differently. This is also the first work of Wang Xuexi to return to the stage after a gap of twenty years. For this work, Wang Xuexi is particularly cherished, "I am an actor in the Air Politics Repertory Theatre, who has acted in dramas for half a lifetime and has feelings for the stage. ”

Wang Xuexi recalled that at the beginning, the person in charge of the Fangshi Theater was afraid that he could not accept this more avant-garde theatrical form, because in the more than eighty minutes of performance, the father and daughter did not communicate positively at all, but only unfolded the story through more than twenty phone calls and voice messages. Although he has never acted in such a play, Wang Xuexi is not exclusive of this pioneering form, "At that time, our Air Politics Repertory Theater was a very good troupe in the whole army, we would also perform many innovative plays, and I also acted in many experimental plays. "Decades ago, Wang Xuexi performed the very famous Zhiqing-themed drama "WM" in the Air Politics Repertory Theatre, and the performance form of that play was very avant-garde at that time. This rehearsal of "Daddy's Bed", seeing that the father and daughter of the whole play have never met, but only talked, discussed, quarreled, and silenced through phone calls or voice messages, he thought of the play of that year, which was the same very simple stage, all supported by the performance of the actors.

In Wang Xuexi's view, although this drama is about the story of a father and daughter, you can also see the shadow of many families, "As long as there are old people with children and fathers and daughters, you will see that there may be a sentence you said in the play, there is a scene you have experienced, and there are problems that you have not been able to solve." What especially makes him sigh is that the kind of loneliness without the support of family affection, the child grows up and goes out of the house, and the parents are getting older and older, but the children can't take care of their parents, and there is nothing to say to each other, "This is the commonality, where there are people in the world, there is this common emotion, this drama is to remind people, do not forget the family affection, even if thousands of miles away through the phone greeting, can also give each other strength, so that each other will not feel lonely." ”

Although the father and daughter did not actually meet and communicate on stage, the audience did not feel that there was anything wrong with it. Wang Xuexi believes that this is related to the fact that the script itself is very solid, so that he can also enjoy acting very much, "I still have a lot of feelings for the stage, standing on the stage I will think of a lot, when I am lost, when I am proud... Every time the curtain comes down, I am very excited and enjoyed, because that is the audience's approval of you, appreciation of you. ”

Zhou Minghan, a drama teacher who plays her daughter in the play, is very close to Wang Xuexi, and when she was 6 years old, she played Wang Xuexi's daughter in a film, and at that time, after filming, she was carried home by this "father". This time, the "father and daughter" held hands again, and she learned a lot from Teacher Wang Xuexi.
