Bonucci highlighted the problem of relying on Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo

Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci said problems arise when the team relies too much on United star Cristiano Ronaldo.

Bonucci returned to Juventus ahead of the 2018/19 season. In the summer of the same year, Cristiano Ronaldo joined serie A team from Real Madrid.

From his 134 appearances for Juventus to the end of the 2020/21 season, the striker scored 101 goals.

Cristiano Ronaldo won two Serie A titles at Juventus, but he was unable to help them win the Champions League. Since rejoining the club this summer, he has scored four goals in five of United's games.

Bonucci told The Athletic that Ronaldo needed Juventus just as they needed him:

"That's the way it is. A player, even the best player in the world, can guarantee Juventus victory.

"The appearance of C Ronaldo has had a great impact on us. Training with him gave us something extra, but subconsciously the players began to think that his presence alone was enough to win the game.

"We started to be lacking in terms of day-to-day work, humility, sacrifice and the desire to help our teammates day in and day out.

"In the last few years, I think you can see that.

"Last season we finished fourth and won the Coppa Italia because we were a team again.

"If you throw a piece of wood in the dressing room before those games, it catches fire, like electricity passes through it. We missed it.

"Maybe people take it for granted that if we give the ball to Cristiano Ronaldo, he will win the game for us.

"But Cristiano Ronaldo needs the team just as we need him.

"There has to be a trade-off because even if the individual is the best player on the planet, the team will promote the individual."

Elsewhere, Dean Sanders claims mo salah is now better than Ronaldo and Lionel Messi:

"Now, as we said, who is better than [Salah]? With eight goals in eight games on the right wing, he didn't play in the middle.

"He just looks overwhelming.

"There's Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, they're on their own, but now they're not as good as Salah.

"It's easy to say Ronaldo, but now Salah looks like he scores every week."
