Chen Daogui and the forthcoming "Swan Feast (II)".
According to the Fuzhou Evening News on August 7, if you like Fujian opera, you must have seen the works created by Chen Daogui. Since 1984, he has had nearly 70 plays on the stage. Recently, the reporter interviewed 75-year-old Chen Daogui.
Halfway out of the house to write the script
Chen Daogui is a native of Pingtan, and in the 1980s, many local Fujian opera troupes made a "drama famine" due to the lack of scripts. Wu Jintai, then director of the Pingtan County Cultural Bureau, thought of Chen Daogui, who was working as an agricultural statistician outside the Pingtan Plain Commune, because he had written some "revolutionary plays", written Min opera sketches, three and a half sentences, and so on.
When Chen Daogui went to Pingtan Min Opera Troupe as a screenwriter, the leader gave him the task of working with the leader Zheng Zhenyuan to rewrite the incomplete script of the Min opera "Hundred Flowers Temple" into two episodes. Chen Daogui was living in the office of the Cultural Affairs Bureau at that time, eating cold steamed buns and drinking boiled water to work day and night, and in less than 3 months, he put "Hundred Flowers Temple" on the stage, which not only caused a sensation in Pingtan, but also became popular in the surrounding counties.
Later, they wrote the prequel and postquel of "Hundred Flowers Temple", forming a four-episode stage drama, which was performed more than 1,000 times in more than 10 years.
Composed a trilogy of Fujian opera
Chen Daogui created the Trilogy of Fujian Opera," "Swan Feast", "Phoenix Egg" and "Painting the Dragon", and formed his own comedy style with black humor through "tragic singing".
"Swan Feast" mainly tells the story of Tang Taizong's "Swan Banquet"; "Phoenix Egg" tells the story of the Phoenix Egg from the folk to the court, constantly being dropped by people, and turning into crow eggs and turtle eggs; "Painting the Dragon" takes Zhu Yuanzhang as the prototype and tells the story of the strange-looking emperor who wants to paint a handsome "standard image".
In 1990, at the award ceremony of the Fifth National Excellent Script Writing Award (the predecessor of the Cao Yu Script Award) held in the Great Hall of the People, "Swan Feast" topped the list. In the first "Wenhua Award" sponsored by the former Ministry of Culture, "Swan Banquet" won the "Wenhua Drama Award". "Painting the Dragon" won the "Five One Project" award of the Central Propaganda Department, and Fuzhou achieved a breakthrough of zero in the award.
After retirement, he never quit working
In 2007, Chen Daogui retired from the Fuzhou Art Creation Center, but his work did not stop. In the 26th 26th and 27th Fujian Provincial Drama Shows in 2015 and 2018, he created the Fujian opera "Double Dragon Dream", "Hai Rui Shengguan", "Longtai Horse", "Qingtian", "Xinglin Ancestor" and Shouning North Road Drama "Feng Menglong Fighting Tiger", with remarkable results.
After Chen Daogui retired, the Fujian operas "Qingtian" and "Huang Mianzhai" created by Chen Daogui have successively become funded projects by the National Arts Fund in 2016 and 2018. He created "Longtai Donkey Horse" for the Mawei District Straits Min Opera Troupe and was invited to perform in Jinjing, and also participated in the 16th Chinese Drama Festival.
Recently, Chen Daogui's WeChat name was changed to "Sanlexuan". He believes that well-being, happiness, and contentment are the three major happiness indicators for the elderly. To this end, he will walk on the 10,000 steps of fitness every day and work out in the park. He said: "This can inspire creativity, and it seems that I am back in the spring of artistic creation!"
