Qingdao has a historical urban area of 28 square kilometers, of which in the core area of 6.9 square kilometers, 85 cultural relics protection units at all levels are gathered, and nearly 1,000 cultural relics buildings are gathered.

In September 2018, Shibei District launched the expropriation of the Shanghai Road-Wuding Road area.
