On May 19, a staff member of the Emergency Response Department of Guangdong Province confirmed to The Paper (www.thepaper.cn) the authenticity of the online document "Report on the Shaking of the Saige Plaza Building in Huaqiang North Street, Futian District, Shenzhen (Continued Report II)". The report shows that experts initially believe that the cause of the tremor of the SEG Plaza tower is due to the coupling of a variety of factors, mainly the influence of the wind, as well as the impact of subway operation and temperature.
The above-mentioned staff member indicated that the report was only a preliminary finding and that further investigation by the Panel was still under investigation.
According to the "Report on the Shaking of the SEG Plaza Building in Huaqiang North Street, Futian District, Shenzhen (Continued Report II)", after the study and judgment of provincial and municipal experts, it is preliminarily believed that: First, the Shenzhen SEG Building is a system of up and down tremors instead of swinging left and right; the second is that the cause of the tremor is the coupling of various factors, mainly the influence of the wind, as well as the impact of subway operation (two subways passing under the building) and temperature (the temperature has risen in the past two days, the temperature difference has reached 8 degrees, which has a great impact on the steel structure); the third is the on-site investigation and consultation of experts. The main structure of the SEG Building is safe, the internal structure is sturdy, and the various ancillary facilities are intact.
The report shows that at present, Shenzhen has set up an on-site command center, and organized experts and technicians in structural engineering, geotechnical engineering, and engineering seismic resistance to monitor the settlement, tilting and vibration of the SEG Building, and further formulate emergency disposal plans.
According to expert measurements, the current tilt rate of the SEG Building is between 0.01% and 0.02%, which is less than the allowable tilt of 0.2%, far less than the specification requirements, and experts agree that the SEG Building has no tilt. Shenzhen Will judge the reopening of the building according to the inspection of the building structure. Given that the building is not equipped with dampers, experts suggest that the next step can be considered to install dampers to improve wind and vibration resistance and comfort.
