Recently, photography enthusiasts in our city took a photo of a fire-crowned finch in Luoyanghe Village, Dajiuhu Town, Shennongjia. The reporter learned from the Provincial Wildlife Conservation Station that the fire-crowned finch is a new record species in Hubei Province, and this bird has never been photographed in Hubei Province before.

The fire-crested finch is a small bird of the family Finches with a grey crown, a black face, a brown back, and a concave tail. Females and juveniles resemble males but are dark in color and have a slightly darker face. It inhabits alpine coniferous forests or mixed forests, but also near open villages in low mountains and is found in plain areas in winter.
