Millions of cats around the world are kept as pets, most of them the result of cats mating with each other without human intervention, and these cats are random combinations of genes, possibly by accident!
These cats have different names around the world, such as non-pedigree cats, domestic shorthair or longhair cats, stray cats, and so on. Worldwide, they are roughly the same size and shape, and depending on their origin, different coat colors and appearances can be chosen.

Domestic cats are specially bred to exhibit special physiological characteristics and may also exhibit some behaviors related to reproduction (e.g., Siamese cats are generally very "talkative" and noisy compared to some cats or other breeds).
Some breeds appear because they develop in an isolated area, and certain traits become common to all cats. In order to breed the breed we know today, breeders bred a group of naturally bred cats into one breed, crossed a genetically abnormal cat (such as short legs, folded ears or lack of fur) with other cats to breed a breed, mixed different breeds to form a new breed, and crossed a different species with a domestic cat to form a hybrid breed.
Purebred cats are usually considered special in some ways and can cost a lot of money. However, it is better to think of purebred cats as different than non-purebred cats. Although cats are a mixture from real cats, the pedigree is from a specific and very similar to all others from the same "breed" or from other breeds in a particular breed standard or to create a new breed. This means that you can choose a specific appearance or color, and even certain behavioral characteristics are more likely to occur.
However, this also means that the number of cats available for breeding is greatly reduced, so the "gene pool" is not large. So, while the looks of the cat you're looking for are guaranteed, problems arise due to the limited gene pool. If there are health problems or diseases in this group, these can be more easily passed on to the next generation, which is what we call genetic diseases. You will find the most common mentioned varieties if relevant. The "appearance" or "standard" of some breeds may require extreme forms of the body – such as a very short nose or no tail – which may not be great for the health of the cat.

Most domestic cats are simply considered to be domestic cats with short hairs, medium hairs, or long hairs from domestic cats, and are not purebred. But that doesn't mean you'll never meet a purebred cat, or that your cat can't be purebred.
Purebred cats are defined in the glossary of cat lovers as "cats whose ancestors were of the same breed, or whose ancestors were included in the breed criteria for hybridization." For example, a purebred Mumbai may also have a background in Burmese cats. "In general, a cat's pedigree must be certified by the Cat Breed Registry to be called purebred.
The American shorthair cat breed was originally called the domestic shorthair cat breed, but the name was changed to avoid confusion with cats of unknown origin, among other reasons. Lacking the necessary pedigree, domesticated shorthair cats cannot simply be called American shorthair cats unless the breeding history is known.

Some people may be confused when it comes to the word "domestic cat." According to the absolute definition of the word, a domestic cat should be a cat that lives in a dwelling – however, not all domestic cats are domestic cats. Domestic cats can be purebred, mixed-race, living with humans in houses or farms, or living nearby as a stray cat or feral cat.
Domestic cats or domestic cats appeared thousands of years ago through selective breeding. In previous feral cats and big cats, domestic cats were bred with "wild" features removed from their DNA.
Domestic cats come in a variety of sizes, shapes, hair lengths, and color patterns. You'll find all the solid colors, and all the combinations of solid colors — pure or non-pure.
Artificial selection, a term coined by biologist Charles Darwin, is a process humans use to develop new organisms with ideal characteristics. The breeder selects two parents with beneficial traits to reproduce, producing offspring with the desired traits.
All cats today originated from primitive cats in Africa, the Mediterranean and the Middle East. All cats can be called "domestic cats" without regard to their breeding.
A mixed-race cat is a cat of unknown origin whose body shape, fur, and/or color pattern are unknown and may resemble markings of one breed or another, but cats are classified as mixed breeds unless there is a long list of pedigree records and registration with the cat lovers association or other organizations. For example, no matter how much a cat resembles a Siamese cat, in most cases the cat is considered to be of Siamese mixed race.
That is to say, although your cat does not have a recorded pedigree, it may also be a purebred cat!
