The year before I found that I had abnormal white spots on my legs, I went to the hospital for examination at the first time after I found out, and when I was diagnosed with vitiligo, I began to treat it, the doctor prescribed external medication plus twice a week to do light therapy, insisted on about two months, I felt that the color of vitiligo was not so fake white. After almost three months of treatment, the white spots the size of coins on the legs had faded, and if you didn't look closely, you couldn't see them at all, and the white spots that were the size of your palm slowly decomposed, and the center began to turn black. I felt like I was about to heal from vitiligo.

After going to the hospital to do light therapy, the number of times to do light therapy was reduced, until the reason for the later work transfer, the weekend had to work overtime to be busy, thinking that their white spots were almost recovered, anyway, every day with ointment, not to do light therapy should be nothing. A month or so has passed, but to my surprise, I found that the area on my legs that had been about to improve had expanded again, and white spots had appeared on my neck. Why is my vitiligo getting better and worse, getting worse?

Vitiligo is a chronic disease and treatment is a long process. Because the patient does not know much about the recovery situation, they will blindly stop treatment, but the disease will become repetitive. There are two reasons for a recurrence of vitiligo. First, the trigger has not been removed. Because the recurrence of vitiligo and some triggers have a very clear correlation such as sleep, mood, fatigue or some emergency events, long-term staying up late and working overtime during that time leads to lack of sleep and causes relapse of leukoplakia. The second is that the treatment time may not be enough, and some memory cells may be very easy to reactivate again under certain triggers, causing an immune response to attack melanocytes again, so the treatment cycle can be longer.
<h1 class="pgc-h-arrow-right" data-track="11" > five symptoms indicate that your vitiligo is getting better</h1>
1. The area of leukoplakia decreases
When you can tell with the naked eye that the number of white spots is decreasing or the large area of white spots is decreasing, and the skin damage begins to thin, this is the performance of vitiligo beginning to improve. With the deepening and strengthening of treatment, the area and number of leukoplakia will no longer increase. Large areas of white spots shrink and small areas of white spots disappear, which is considered to have improved.
2. The color of the white spots begins to fade
If your leukoplakia area is relatively small, the medical history is not very long, the performance of the improvement of the condition is generally: the color of the white spot becomes lighter and darker, from porcelain white to pale white, and the white of the white shift is no longer false white, and slowly biased towards normal skin color. Usually the transition process begins to darken the edges, then gradually deepens inwards.
3. The edges of the white spot become unclear
The edges of the white spots appear to be darkened, and the white spots become red or pale. Its boundaries become irregular, shrinking inwards like a gear and wavy pattern, indicating that melanocytes in this area of the lesion are slowly returning to growth.
4. Leukoplakia begins to grow pigment spots
When vitiligo is treated for more than a month, the area of white spots will slowly shrink, and black spots will appear in the white spots and shrink from the four sides to the center. If a darker band is formed around the white spots, slowly these pigment bands will form new irregularly shaped pigment spots, which will continue to spread from the surrounding areas to the center until they are fused with each other, and the skin color tends to normal skin tone, which means that your white spots are getting better and gradually healing.
5. The body begins to itch
Clinically, there is often a phenomenon of itching of the skin when patients begin to improve. The skin at the lesion is itchy, which indicates that the new skin is growing, and the place with white spots will also turn red, indicating that the direction of treatment is right, and it is necessary to continue to treat. However, it should be noted that when such symptoms occur, we must not arbitrarily change the external application of drugs, so as not to affect the condition.
