Miss World is one of the oldest beauty pageants in the world. It was founded in 1951 by a British advertising agency named Eric Morley. Originally conceived as a one-off event, it proved so popular that it evolved into an annual event.

Venezuela holds the record for winning the Miss World contest. All in all, the country's representatives won six times, and Suzanne was the first of them. Thanks to this title, she was able to start an acting career and work as a TV presenter.
Penelope Coren, South Africa (Miss World 1958)
The 18-year-old secretary girl captivated the audience and became the first winner from South Africa to win the competition. Later, she returned to South Africa to marry and became a noblewoman of high society. She has five sons and three grandchildren. Coelen is interested in photography and is the owner of a beauty salon. A rose is named after her: Rosa Penny Coelen.
Ann Sidney, UK (Miss World 1964)
Ann Sidney is the second representative in her country to win the Miss World contest. After her win, Ann played a few small roles on TV, including the Avengers and you were served? She also starred in James Bond's film You Only Live Twice.
Madeleine, Peru (Miss World 1967)
After winning the tournament, Madeleine lived in Paris and later in South Florida. It was there that she married and had a daughter.

As an actress, model and TV presenter, Megan Young became the first representative in the Philippines to win the title of Miss World. Model Rowling Strauss became the third person in her native South Africa to win the title of Miss World.
