Ole Gunnar Solskjaer still has the support of Key Manchester United's directors

Despite Sunday's loss to Liverpool, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer still has the support of some key figures at Manchester United.

The Reds have won just three of their last nine games, with they losing humiliatingly 0-5 to Klopp's side.

The result put a huge strain on the Norwegian, who are now seventh in the league and have scored just one point in their last four Premier League games.

There has been speculation that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could be sacked before his next match against Tottenham on Saturday, with United reportedly already asking if Antonio Conte and Zinedin Zidane will succeed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

But Athletic said Ole Gunnar Solskjaer "has a good chance of getting a chance to rectify the problem, starting with Saturday against Tottenham," although board support after Liverpool "softened slightly."

The report also said that "Ole Gunnar Solskjaer still has support from the top." Over the past two weeks, the lead directors have privately expressed their determination to work with Statoil to develop a long-term plan.

In Sports added:

Given the size of the rout against Klopp's side, the decision to support Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will come under enormous pressure. United's performances were the most chaotic in decades, while Liverpool were able to attack with ease.

Sources say that the confusion of dress styles is a factor. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is said to have given Liverpool a high-pressure command, but the players were confused about the exact coordination. United didn't do much pressing training in training, explaining that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's strategy was to let the person closest to the ball grab possession and get the team back in shape.

'But the attitude of the Manchester United players shows that there is a problem with the communication between them.

Meanwhile, Paul Scholes suggested that Paul Pogba should not play for United after being sent off for a red card against Liverpool.

Scholes told Premier League productions: "It's a complete understatement to say it was a disappointing day.

"I think we all realise it's difficult and I just feel like the manager is being infected by the mood of a comeback on Wednesday night [Champions League vs. Atalanta].

"We kept thinking back to that game, but against Liverpool you would never do that, they had too much ability.

"I don't think it's a lack of effort, I think that could happen with their tactical set-up, unfortunately it did happen.

"Paul Pogba came to the pitch at half-time to try to help the team and maybe get some respect, he tried to stand on the ball, trying to show how strong he was in the middle of the pitch but sent the ball out.

He was then sent off with a ridiculous tackle. Now you're 5-0 behind and there are 10 people left. You wonder if Ole were still in charge at Manchester United, would we still see Pogba wearing a Manchester United shirt?

"Over the past few years, he's caused chaos. Everybody knows what a talented player he is, everybody trusts him, every coach trusts him, tries to sober him up and make him the player he was.

"But in all the commotion, he didn't sign a contract, almost blackmailed the club, and then he came and did something like that.

"Don't get me wrong, it's not Ole's fault, but it's part of United's performance today.

"Look, he could be on the field (again), wouldn't he?" But I don't think they'll miss anything if he doesn't.

"He had a lot of chances and he kept saying he lacked stability, but that was just (lack of) discipline and disrespect for your coaches and team-mates, what he did today."
