author:Fan Reserved

"Pimp" originally referred to the intermediary between prostitutes and prostitutes, and the reason why such people were called pimps came from the pimp camp in the famous Eight Hutongs in Beijing. Later, people also referred to "pimping" as all acts of seeking some illegal benefit and matching them. In the Beiyang political arena, Duan Zhigui, who was a general in the army, in order to curry favor with the magnates, repeatedly provided beautiful women for Yuan Shikai and his son Yuan Keding, Zai Zhen, the son of Prince Yili of Qing, and others in order to seek promotion, and was called the first pimp in the Beiyang political arena.

Duan Zhigui, the character Xiangyan, was born in 1870 in Hefei, Anhui Province, his father Duan Risheng worked as an errand boy in Yamen, Duan Zhigui has heard about it since childhood, and learned the skill of patting horses and whiskers. He attended private school for several years, but the imperial court stipulated that sons of messengers were not allowed to participate in scientific expeditions, so he was angry and dropped out of school. Later, after being introduced, he went to the "Yihe Pawnshop" opened by Li Hongzhang, a dignitary and dignitary, and became an apprentice who ran errands. Because of gambling debts, he had to leave his job and go to Duan Risheng, an uncle who worked as a rear camp helper at a small station in Tianjin. Soon after, he was sent to the Beiyang Wubei Academy as a student. In June 1886, Li Hongzhang founded the Beiyang Wubei Academy in Tianjin, and the 17-year-old Duan Zhigui was admitted to the first batch. After graduation, he stayed in the academy as a teacher, and later went to Japan to study with Li Jingfang, the son of Li Hongzhang, and entered the non-commissioned officer school for further study. After returning to China, he served in the Ordnance Bureau. In 1897, Duan Zhigui defected to the newly built army formed by Yuan Shikai, the governor of Tianjin, and served as the governor of the camp and taught in the martial arts hall. Duan Zhigui, who is good at speculation, in order to seduce Yuan Shikai, bought a beautiful woman to give to Yuan, and this "gift" made Yuan Xinhua blossom. As a result, Duan Zhigui was promoted to two levels in a row—the general office of the Tianjin Southern Section Police Station and the second battalion of infantry. Duan also became a powerful general under Yuan.

Every morning and evening, Duan Zhigui had to go to Yuan Shikai to ask for peace and kneel down to pay homage. Yuan said: "There is no need for this, the Son of Man is only safe for his parents." Duan said casually, "The parents of those who gave birth to me, and the one who cultivated me." If you don't give up, please accept me as a child! Without waiting for Yuan to speak, Shi San bowed his head and recognized Yuan Shikai as "Dry Daddy". As a result, Yuan regarded Duan as a confidant and sponsored him to be promoted to Tianjin Patrol Police.

Yikes

In 1907, Zai Zhen, the son of Prince Yili of Qing, then Shangshu of the Ministry of Agriculture, Industry and Commerce, and former minister of the Imperial Court, passed through Tianjin when he returned to China on an expedition to Europe. The little prince's father was a red man in front of Cixi. How could Yuan Shikai, the governor of direct subordination as the host, let go of this opportunity to curry favor with the imperial court? Yuan immediately ordered Duan Zhigui to "entertain" well. Duan Zhigui, who was old and sophisticated, had long heard of the good color of Zai Zhen's wine, so he invited the famous Yang Cuixi to come and sing to help entertain.

Yang Cuixi was born in 1888 in a farming family in Yangliuqing, the western suburbs of Tianjin, and his ancestral home was directly under Dong'an. She was not originally surnamed Yang, nor was her name Cuixi, but people only remembered that her breast name was Yatou. She has a brother and a brother, a family of 5 rented a few acres of dry land to live, and when she was 10 years old, her father died of tuberculosis. In 1900, the area around Yang Liuqing was first drought-stricken and then flooded, and in order to survive, Yatou's mother led the 12-year-old Yatou out of her hometown, planning to go out of the customs and go to the northeast to escape the wilderness. The mother and daughter begged along the way, and just walked to the reed platform a hundred miles away, when the mother suddenly felt puffy and swollen, and it was difficult to take a step forward. Helpless, he ruthlessly escorted his daughter to a local family surnamed Yang. Later, yatou went to Tianjin and fell into the music book, and the flower name was Yang Cuixi.

Yang Cuixi is intelligent, delicate in appearance, and rounded for the moon. She was sent to the drama class to learn to act in Hua Dan, and soon learned a large number of plays such as "Picking Jade Bracelet", "Wrong in Mistake", "The Book under the Clouds", "Pearl Shirt", "Xi Rong Gui", etc., and sang beautifully and the tone was moving. Because of his long jade standing, walking on the stage has a weak willow wind posture, and he has the appearance of sinking fish and falling geese in the play, so he is greatly favored by the audience. In the blink of an eye, Cuixi has spent 6 years of her career as a maid in the Tianxian Class. By 1906, at the age of 18, she had blossomed. Those stupid children and dignitaries are like the butterfly flying bees that chase the fragrance. At that time, the strongest people who praised her were wang Yisun, a salt merchant, and Duan Zhigui.

Today, Yang Cuixi is performing a drama at Zai Zhen's dust washing banquet. She performed on stage, and in the midst of the wonderful dance, it was even more elegant and beautiful. Zai Zhen's heart was extremely itchy, and her soul also flew out of her shell with her expression movements, attaching to CuiXi's graceful and colorful body. Yang Cuixi's flattering eyes always glanced at Zai Zhen's body, and the color was given to the soul. At the end, Yang Cui happily wore a costume as a feast. Jiali is currently, Zai Zhen stays at her table, asking long questions and short questions. And Yang Cuixi also made a pout for this dear noble and kuo shao, and did the bird according to the state of the person. That night, Duan Zhigui quietly arranged for CuiXi to sleep next to Zai Zhen. For several days in a row, Zai Zhen could not bear to give up, and had no choice but to go on official business, so he had to go away in a hurry.

After Zai Zhen left, Duan Zhigui immediately invited Wang Yisun, a salt merchant who had a close personal relationship with Yang Cuixi, and begged Wang to come forward to consult with Chen Guobi, the lord of Cuixi, and redeem Yang Cuixi by "pouring his pockets". According to the regulations of the official government at that time, the imperial court ordered officials not to privately store prostitutes, so Duan Zhigui asked Wang Yisun to buy them from unofficial people. At first, Chen Guobi bought Yang Cuixi's silver for only 50 taels, and now Wang Yisun opened his mouth to bargain with him, he did not intend to really sell, and it was inconvenient to refute it, so he used a large sample of 3,000 yuan as a prevarication. Unexpectedly, Wang Yisun actually agreed with a full mouth. When he learned that Wang Yisun had "poured his pockets" for Duan Zhigui, he regretted it even more. So he hid CuiXi in the house of the maid of the Jin family kiln. When Wang Yisun came to lead people, Chen Changed his mouth Yang Cuixi's value was 12,000 yuan. After several bargains, it was finally sold for 8,000 yuan of the ocean.

After Yang Cuixi was redeemed, Duan Zhigui spent another 5,000 silver dollars to buy Zhu Cuixi's head and elaborate clothing for Cuixi, and in March of the following year, thinking that Qingwang Yixi would have a chance to celebrate his birthday, he secretly sent Cuixi to Beijing and dedicated it to Bei Zi Zaizhen. Zai Zhen was overjoyed.

Soon, there was an edict from the Emperor: "Qin ordered the Tianjin Patrol Police Dao Duan Zhigui to give the envoys, acting as the inspector of Heilongjiang, and immediately go to the office." "On April 12 of the same year, Duan Zhigui was awarded the post of acting governor of Heilongjiang by the envoy, and you can see that the effectiveness of this sexual bribery was immediately effective.

There is no impermeable wall under the heavens. Duan Zhigui's offering of prostitutes to seek officials was leaked out, so the scandal of "offering prostitutes" spread in the capital. The painter Zhang Shouhu learned of Duan Zhigui's offer of beauty and Zai Zhen's sale of the official Qijue, and immediately created a satirical painting with the title "Promotion Map". In the picture, a woman with a wrapped foot sits on a stilt on her legs; an official kneels under the woman's pomegranate skirt and prostrates her head in thanksgiving. The painting is signed "Sorrowful Father". The clear-eyed people knew who the woman on the picture was at a glance, and the person dressed in the official clothes of the Qing court was naturally Duan Zhigui. The "Promotion Chart" was published in the "Beijing News", and the incident of Duan Zhigui's offering of beauty and bribery to officials was even more sensational throughout the city.

Although things like Zai Zhen are forbidden, they are not uncommon in the DPRK, but everyone turns a blind eye. However, the father and son of Prince Yili of Qing colluded with Yuan Shikai to eliminate dissidents and compete for power, which had long been hated by the ministers of the DPRK. Xu Shichang looked down on this straw bag, and he instructed his proud protégés Zhang Zhenwu and Yushi Zhao Qilin to fold him fiercely. Therefore, there was Zhao Qilin (Zi Zhisun) who first attacked. On March 25, 1907, Zhao Qilin submitted "Duan Zhi Gui's Affinity and NobleNess, And The Discussion of Things Boiling and Folding" to the imperial court. He wrote in the recital: "In the previous year, Bei Zi Zai zhen went to the three eastern provinces and passed through Tianjin, and Duan Zhigui fu served as an attaché, so he took care of everyone who greeted Zai Zhen and bought a singer and prostitute Yang Cuixi at the Tianjin Daguan garden theater (Tianxian Tea Garden) for twelve thousand gold, and offered it to Zai Zhen. The matter is known to passers-by, and the 100,000 gold from Wang Zhulin of the Tianjin Chamber of Commerce is thought to be the birthday ceremony of King Yi of Qingwang, the language of the people, and the noise of the road. Yi Xi, Zai Zhen, and others deceived the imperial court, and Duan Zhigui was given the post of acting inspector of Heilongjiang. ...... This is a flexible bribe, a deception of the imperial court, blatant, no scruples, really so-called: it is tolerable, and it is not to be endured. ”

Zhao Qilin, a native of Xiangtan County. It has successively supplemented the supervision of Henan Province, the supervision of Jiangsu Province, and the supervision of Shanxi Province. During his term of office, he went to the top many times, calling for clarification of the rule of officials, prohibition of opium, reform of education, and poverty alleviation. Zhao Qilin played a twist this time, and revealed the embezzlement and bribery of Zai Zhen's father and son.

Subsequently, Shangshu Cen Chunxuan of the Ministry of Posts and Communications (Note: This Duke had meritorious escorts when the Eight-Nation Alliance invaded Beijing and Cixi fled to the northwest) entered the palace alone to meet Cixi and also participated in Duan Zhigui. At this point, the official flower case that caused an uproar in the government and the public escalated again.

Zai Zhen saw that things had gotten big, and quickly sent his cronies to take a boat from Tongzhou to the waterway and secretly sent Yang Cuixi back to Tianjin overnight. At this time, Yuan Shikai's cousin Zhang Zhenfang in Tianjin, according to Yuan's instructions, transferred Cuixi to the salt merchant Wang Yisun to cover people's eyes and ears. Wang Yisun did not spend anything in vain to get this famous master who made many rich gentry and officials covet, and naturally liked it.

In order to calm public opinion, Empress Dowager Cixi first dismissed Duan Zhigui from her post, and then ordered Zaifeng the Prince of Alcohol and Sun Jia Nai, a scholar of the university, to investigate and handle it thoroughly. Sun Jianai sent investigators to Tianjin to summon the tianjin patrol team leader, the prefect Yang Yide, Wang Yisun and others. Yang Yide and Duan Zhigui were originally friends of Mo Rebellion, and Wang Yisun and others had long been bought off, and this gang colluded to fabricate perjury and let the case-handling personnel return to Beijing to repeat the performance, saying that Yang Cuixi was married by Wang Yisun, and that it coincided with the banquet zai zhen and Yang Cuixi acting, so that there was such a false rumor. Therefore, on May 16, Cixi issued an edict that Zhao Qilin was dismissed from his post for "investigating false visits and slandering his relatives and nobles".

When the government and the public heard the news, they were indignant. Many newspapers and periodicals wrote articles in solidarity, and the Shanghai "Declaration" made a cartoon with the title of "Fighting the Tiger" and wrote "Not Afraid of Strong Beams" to show the will of the people. When Zhao Qilin was dismissed from his post and left Beijing, hundreds of people were sent off. Under the pressure of public opinion, the Qing court withdrew his life and reinstated his imperial history.

Yang Cuixi's "human bomb" finally "exploded" Duan Zhigui himself - only served as the inspector of Heilongjiang for 18 days, and he lost 100,000 gold in vain, which provoked ridicule from the government and the public and snubbed in Tianjin.

Later, Yang Cuixi, the unprovoked victim, directly became a concubine in the salt merchant. Wang Yisun built 3 additional rooms for Yang Cuixi in the front yard of the residence, and built a private theater building. In order to prevent the world's tongue, he did not allow Cui Xi to go out of the house, but allowed him to sing in the theater building. Cuixi is like sitting in prison every day, because of her depressed mood, this first-generation actress of Hebei Zizi, who is famous for her time, left the world early when she was less than 30 years old.

Duan Zhigui was silent for several years. After the outbreak of the Xinhai Revolution in 1911, the Xuantong Emperor was forced to abdicate, and Yuan Shikai became the first official president in Chinese history, and Duan Zhigui also came to work from time to time. On February 1, 1914, Duan Zhigui oversaw E, and was awarded the title of "General Zhangwu". Duan spent two years in Hubei, and Lu Lu did not perform anything, but the farce of pimping "sexual bribery" he staged once again surprised the world. Once, Yuan Keding passed through Wuhan because of an incident, went to Yiyuan to watch a play, and fell in love with the star Wang Keqin at first sight. Duan Zhigui immediately went to Yiyuan for a private visit, spent 8,000 yuan on Yinyang to buy furniture and other daily necessities for Wang Keqin, and offered her to Grand Duke Yuan. After this news came out, hu Shi'an, the manager of the "Dahan Bao", heard about it, and took two editors to Yiyuan to spy on the truth. After Hu Shi'an returned to the society, he used the title to play and published an article entitled "Falling Flowers Have a Lord", which ridiculed Duan Zhigui. Duan Zhigui was very annoyed after seeing it.

At that time, Bai Lang, the leader of the green forest in Baofeng County, Henan Province, led the rebel army to attack laohekou, and the "Dahan Bao" wrote a straight book and opened a column of "The Theory of the Wolf Disaster in the Central Plains" and constantly reported it. In order to vent his personal anger, Duan Zhigui falsely accused the "Dahan Bao" of having an adulterous affair with Bai Lang, sealed down the newspaper hall on the charge of "leaking military aircraft, advocating chaos in the party, and disturbing public order," arrested Hu Shi'an, his editors, and more than 10 other people, and handed them over to the Army Trial Department for trial and handling, and Hu Shi'an and others were sentenced to short prison terms. Duan Zhigui's sexual bribery was in full swing, and he was criticized everywhere in Hubei and had a bad reputation. The following year, in 1915, Duan Zhigui fell away from Hubei, and Shi An was released before his sentence was completed.

Duan Zhigui went to the northeast to take up his post, commanding the military affairs of Fengtian, Jilin, and Heilongjiang, and stationed in Fengtian City. When Zhang Zuolin was first caressed, Duan's father Duan Youheng was his guarantor, and Zhang Zuolin called him "Duan Old Lady". Duan Zhigui thought that with this relationship, Zhang Zuolin would not be embarrassed with him. However, due to The case of Yang Cuixi, Duan's case was circulated. When he came to Fengtian Queen, Zhang Zuolin, commander of the Fengtian Twenty-seventh Division, and those important members who started by strength scorned him and ridiculed him as a "straw bag", saying: "Why did President Yuan use such a despicable person!" Zhang Zuolin felt that Emperor Yuan in Beijing was busy with the yellow robe and body, and did not take advantage of this time to sweep the bed, and when would he stay? He came up with a soft way to drive the segments —

One morning, Zhang Zuolin, Feng Delin, and a group of other people led by senior officers and staff officers went to the supervisor's office to see Duan, and Duan saw many people and asked him what accident he had.

Zhang replied, "Emperor Hongxian is about to ascend the throne, and the Grand Marshal is the founding father of the country, so he has come to ask the Grand Marshal for instructions on which day to set off and prepare to send it." ”

Duan Guansai observed the words, knew the intention, and replied: "Return to Beijing tomorrow night."

Sure enough, the next day, Zhang Yue and all the officials and subordinates set up a feast to bid farewell, and Duan had no choice but to board the journey and fled back to Beijing.

In September 1915, Duan Zhigui and the 14 provincial generals wrote to Yuan Shikai to "quickly take the throne", and was the first among the military generals to openly claim the title of subject in official documents, which contributed to Yuan's restoration of the imperial system. Together with Yuan Keding, the eldest son of Yuan Shikai, he also faked the "Suncheon Times" run by the Japanese, and the content of the fake was a voice of support from the outside world. Duan was awarded the title of Duke of the First Rank by Yuan Shikai and the commander of the right wing of the Wuwei Right Army, and then promoted to the commander-in-chief of the Arch Guard Army, awarded the rank of general of the army, and served as the commander of the first army of the army.

In 1916, Yuan Shikai died, and Duan Zhigui turned to Duan Qirui of the Anhui dynasty. In May 1917, Li Yuanhong and Duan Qirui had a "dispute between the government", and Duan Zhigui personally went to Xuzhou to instigate Zhang Xun to enter Beijing to mediate and drive Out Li Yuanhong. In July, President Lai was scared away, and Zhang Xun took advantage of the situation to support the restoration of reunification. Duan Zhigui also served as the commander-in-chief of the Rebel Army's East Road to eliminate Zhang Xun's braided army, and was promoted to commander-in-chief of the Gyeonggi Garrison and commander-in-chief of the army under the Duan government.

In July 1920, Duan Qirui formed the "Dingguo Army", with himself as the commander-in-chief, Xu Shuzheng as the chief of staff, and Duan Zhigui as the commander-in-chief of the former enemy of the Dingguo Army, launching the Zhiwan War and fighting against the warlord Wu Peifu. Zhang Zuolin assisted in the direct attack on Anhui, and Wu Peifu personally led the strong brigade and defeated the Anhui army. Duan Zhigui's soldiers fled in defeat and settled in the Tianjin concession as a Yugong, no longer going out of the mountains. On March 12, 1925, Duan Zhigui died of cerebral hemorrhage. He was 56 years old.
