The bronze statue of Mr. Lü Shuxiang was unveiled in Beijing

On September 28th, the Language Publishing House held a grand unveiling ceremony for the bronze statue of Mr. Lv Shuxiang, the old president, at the Dongcheng Language Bookstore in Beijing.

Gu Xinkuang, president of the Chinese Language Publishing House, and Lu Xiangfan, granddaughter of Mr. Lü Shuxiang, jointly unveiled the bronze statue. The bronze statue looks natural, holds a pen and looks sideways, thoughtfully, reproducing the scene of Mr. Lu's hard work and deep research before his death.

Liu Bin, former deputy director of the State Education Commission and former director of the State Language Commission, said in his speech that Mr. Lü Shuxiang is a famous linguist and language educator in China, who has made outstanding contributions to the standardization of modern Chinese, and his "learning language well is the foundation of learning everything well" expresses the importance of learning the ancestral Chinese.

In his speech, Gu Xinkuang said that Mr. Lu Shuxiang attaches great importance to the teaching of language education and the popularization of language expertise, and proposed the establishment of a publishing house specializing in language as early as the early days of the founding of New China. In 1980, Mr. Lui resolutely became the president and editor-in-chief of the Language Publishing House, despite his old age, and worked for eleven years. Under the leadership of Mr. Lu's organization, the Language Society adheres to the correct direction of publishing, practices the purpose of "producing good books, benefits and talents", cultivates a team of editors and publishers with strong politics and professional skills, unites a group of high-level authors mainly experts, scholars and teachers, and publishes a number of influential masterpieces. In December last year, General Secretary Xi Jinping stressed in a reply letter to the veteran comrades of the People's Education Society that the education and publishing industry should "carry forward the fine traditions and promote reform and innovation." In the future, the language society should inherit and carry forward the rich spiritual heritage left by the old president, devote itself to editing and research, strive for excellence, "produce good books with heart", continue to create high-quality teaching materials and educational books that cast the soul of bacon and enlighten wisdom and wisdom, and constantly make new and greater contributions to the cause of language and writing and language education in the new era.
