Recently, scientific research monitors of Longqi Mountain National Nature Reserve in Fujian Province found a cute and high-value Tianniu on the peach tree branch by Yujiaping Creek, which was later identified by experts as a cherry red and swollen horned Tianniu. After consulting the data, there is no distribution record in longqi mountain nature reserve, and this time it is found that it belongs to the distribution record of longqi mountain.
The body length is 39-50mm, and the body width is 12-15mm. The body is black and shiny ; the head , thorax , and elytra are covered with short dark red velvet hairs , the villi on the back of the elytra are tightly arranged in different directions , showing irregular patterns ; the antennae and feet are covered with fine gray-brown hairs.
There is a longitudinal groove in the center of the forehead, with a deep depression on each side of the central front of the front of the forehead; the antennae of the male are 1 and a half times the length of the body, and the end of the 3rd to 5th segment is particularly expanded and spherical; the female antennae are shorter than the insect body, the end of the 3rd to 5th segment is slightly expanded, and the outer end angle of the 6th to 10th segment is sharp and prominent, and the male is not very obvious.
The dorsal plate of the anterior thorax is wider than long, the lateral spines are short and triangular, the anterior end is narrower than the posterior end, the dorsal mask is transverse ridge and two small neoplastic processes, and the small shield is triangular, with blunt corners and slightly concave in the center. The sides of the elytra are nearly parallel, the outer edge angle is blunt and rounded, and the suture angle is toothless. The ventral surface of the body is smooth.
This discovery fills the gap in the distribution of the Tianniu in the Longqi Mountain area, and also increases the species diversity of longqi Mountain.
