Chinese Harada snails peak in may and June, and the females begin to breed offspring when they reach a shell height of about 36 cm. In the natural population, the average number of snails produced per female in China reaches 50-60 per year.
The field snail is cold-resistant and heat-fearing, the suitable growth temperature is 25 ° C, the water temperature is lower than 10 ° C, it likes to drill mud, and it will burn to death if it exceeds 40 ° C.
Field snails are heterogeneous, often feeding on microorganisms and humus in the soil and phytoplankton, young aquatic plants, moss, etc., and also like to eat artificial feed, such as vegetables and fruits, vegetable leaves, rice bran, bean flour, etc., which is very easy to feed.
Prefers to be nocturnal and feeding, and the lifespan of females is usually 4-5 years, and the males are slightly shorter.
The shell is calcareous, thin, spiral-shaped, yellow-green to yellow-brown, with a slightly pointed shell top, an enlarged shell bottom, and an oval shell mouth. The interior is divided into three parts: the head, the feet, and the internal organs.
The snails are delicious but not easy to taste, and if you want to taste this seasonal food, you have to spend more effort in the cooking and cleaning process.
