Today (April 16), the website of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the State Supervision Commission published the news: Yao Jinrong, former secretary of the party group and director of the Shaanxi Provincial Sports Bureau, was examined and investigated.
From the perspective of resume, Yao Jinrong has served in the sports system for a long time, serving as the director of the Shaanxi Provincial Sports Stadium, the deputy director of the Shaanxi Provincial Sports Bureau, a member of the party group, the director of the Shaanxi Provincial Sports Bureau, the secretary of the party group, and other positions, and just retired in January this year.

Before his downfall, Yao Jinrong was mainly responsible for the management of sports in Shaanxi Province. According to the Xi'an Evening News, in March 2018, he publicly stated: "The provincial sports system should seize the rare historical opportunity of preparing for the 14th Games, systematically plan the strategy of the whole transport, accelerate the implementation of the all-transport project to benefit the people, widely carry out a series of activities to welcome the all-transport, and create a strong atmosphere of the whole-people and shared-all-transport as soon as possible." ”
Sports system officials have been investigated, and there have been several cases in recent years. On May 9, 2019, Gao Zhanzhi, a former inspector of the Jilin Provincial Sports Bureau, was expelled from the party. After investigation, Gao Zhanzhi violated organizational discipline and did not truthfully explain the problem during the organization's conversation; violated honesty and discipline, and accepted gifts and gifts in violation of the law. Taking advantage of one's position to seek benefits for others and accepting huge sums of money or property is suspected of accepting bribes.
On September 27, 2019, Chen Bai, a former deputy inspector of the Jiangsu Provincial Sports Bureau, was expelled from the party and dismissed from public office. After investigation, Chen Bai violated political discipline and resisted organizational review; violated the spirit of the eight central regulations and accepted gift money and consumption cards in violation of regulations; violated honesty and discipline by borrowing vehicles of management and service targets in violation of regulations; violated the discipline of life, causing a negative impact; took advantage of the convenience of his position to provide assistance to others, and illegally accepted huge amounts of money and property, and was suspected of accepting bribes.
In 2020, the anti-corruption work in the sports system continued to deepen, and the leaders of sports bureaus in many provinces and regions across the country were investigated. On May 6, 2020, Li Jianzhong, a member of the party group and deputy director of the Tianjin Municipal Sports Bureau, fell from power. On December 3, Han Junhua, a member of the party group and deputy director of the Jilin Provincial Sports Bureau, fell from power.
Looking at the anti-corruption work since the Eighteenth National Congress of the Communist Party of China, some "tigers" with higher positions in the sports system have also been investigated, and the serious handling of problem cadres has been "always on the road".
For example, on September 24, 2015, Xiao Tian, former deputy director of the State General Administration of Sport and a member of the party group, was expelled from the party. After investigation, Xiao Tian seriously violated political discipline and political rules, interfered with and obstructed the examination of the organization, formed an offensive and defensive alliance, and transferred stolen money and stolen goods; seriously violated the organization and personnel discipline, arranged his wife's work in violation of the law and promoted him to a post, changed his route without authorization and extended his period of time abroad while going abroad; seriously violated the regulations on honesty and self-discipline, accepted gifts, reimbursed expenses that should be paid by individuals by subordinate units, and used the convenience of his position to seek benefits for his relatives' business activities; seriously violated the spirit of the eight central regulations, and repeatedly accepted banquets at public expense. He also enters and exits private clubs, accepts arrangements from private business owners to play golf, and takes advantage of his position to seek benefits for others in the selection and appointment of cadres, the examination and approval of events, and the operation of the sports industry, and accepts property and goods. Among them, taking advantage of one's position to seek benefits for others and accepting property is suspected of being a crime.
At that time, the discipline inspection department's criticism of Xiao Tian was very severe: Xiao Tian, as a senior leading cadre of the party, had lost his ideals and convictions, seriously violated discipline, and still did not restrain and relent after the Eighteenth National Congress of the Party, which was of a bad nature and the circumstances were serious.
Now that more officials in the sports system have been investigated, they should also leave a full warning - no matter what field, as long as they are suspected of violating discipline and law, problem cadres will sooner or later be investigated. In this regard, the vast number of party members and cadres should also take this as a warning.
