The first practice session of F1 Russia was held at the Sochi circuit, with Mercedes F1 driver Walteri Bottas leading the lap table with a time of 1 minute 34.427 seconds and teammate Luis Hamilton in second place with a gap of 0.211 seconds.
Ferrari F1 driver Charles Leclerc was third, 0.690 seconds behind Bottas. Teammate Carlos Sainz was only in 11th place, more than 3 seconds behind the fastest lap.
Red Bull F1 driver Max Verstappen was fourth, 1.189 seconds behind Bottas. Teammate Sergio Perez was 12th with a gap of 3.172 seconds.
From 5th to 10th places are Pierre Gasly, Lando Norris, Fernando Alonso, Esteban Ocon, Sebastian Vettel and Daniel Ricciardo.
Gasly is the longest-mileed driver in Russia, completing 13 laps, most of which completed 10 laps. Romeo driver Kimilleconin, who returned to the race, finished 16th in lap.
