At the end of November 2000, Hong Kong TVB once again put "Blue Blood Sword" on the screen after remaking most of the Jin Yong dramas. This time, TVB based on Jin Yong's martial arts novel "Green Blood Sword", after a large revision of the story, filmed and produced. Because the screenwriter borrowed a lot of Jin Yong novels, he made "Green Blood Sword" into "Yitian Slaughtering Dragon".

The Blue Blood Sword is a martial arts novel published by Jin Yong in 1956. As his second novel, "The Green Blood Sword" is not superior among many Jin Yong works. The image of Yuan Chengzhi, the first visual character of the story, is also very thin, and can only be regarded as the third protagonist. Jin Yong said that "Green Blood Sword" is his most modified work, mentioning in the original afterword that "the real protagonist of "Green Blood Sword" is actually Yuan Chonghuan, followed by Golden Snake Lang Jun, two characters who do not officially appear in the book. Yuan Chengzhi's personality is not distinct." Although this exposition was deleted in the new revision and the "Green Blood Sword" was also greatly revised, Yuan Chengzhi was still not as brilliant as the other two characters.
Before the 2000 version of the film and television adaptation of "Green Blood Sword", the most impressive should be the 1993 movie "New Green Blood Sword". The film lineup is luxurious, bringing together well-known actors such as Yuan Biao, Zhang Min, Li Xiuxian, Wu Mengda, Yuan Yongyi, Ye Quanzhen, Li Meifeng, Xu Jinjiang and so on. This is not a successful adaptation, the film reduces the original historical controversy between Li Chuang, the Ming Dynasty and the Qing Dynasty temple to an ordinary jianghu treasure hunt.

The above adaptation can not be described as brilliant, filling the blank space of the original work, and Xia Xueyi's story is complete. However, the next plot was drastically adapted by the screenwriter, far from the plot of the original work, and the bridge section of "The Dragon Slayer in the Heavens" was introduced into the play in large quantities. The background of the story is the end of the Yuan and the beginning of the Ming Dynasty, and the other is the end of the Ming Dynasty and the beginning of the Qing Dynasty. The plots of the two heroines are also similar, and the most important thing is that Yuan Chengzhi and Zhang Wujie have extremely similar personalities, and they are rotten good people with no opinion.

In "Yitian Slaughtering Dragon", zhao min grabbed the part of Qunhao, and the part where Zhou Zhiruo planted stolen goods for Zhao Min also came. Xia Xueyi has also been modified to be a half-hearted person, using his feelings to deceive He Hongyao at the beginning, and forgetting his vows to Wen Yi at the end.

TVB does not attach great importance to "Green Blood Sword", spending a lot of manpower and material resources. However, due to the excessive changes of the creators, the storyline deviated greatly from the original work and moved closer to Jin Yong's other novel, "The Dragon Slayer in the Heavens". It can be said that this was an unsuccessful reversal. The original works of "Green Blood Sword" and "The Book of the Dragon Slaughtering in the Heavens" have different spiritual connotations, the latter focusing on the traditional chivalrous spirit, and the former focusing on the deep historical situation.
