Floor Coatings Small Class: Do you know the difference between pigments and fillers?

As we all know, in many cases, our floor coatings need to be dyed, but the coloring of floor coatings is simpler than that of ordinary architectural decorative coatings, and the varieties used are relatively small. However, considering the actual performance of floor coatings, it is best to choose inorganic pigments or water-based colorants with good chemical resistance and alkali resistance. However, there are still many people who choose pigments or fillers for floor coloring?

Floor Coatings Small Class: Do you know the difference between pigments and fillers?

First, pigments

Pigments are in the epoxy anti-static floor paint in addition to color and covering effect, sometimes also play an anti-rust role, therefore, epoxy anti-static primer can choose some pigments with certain anti-rust ability, such as iron oxide red, zinc phosphate, four alkaline zinc yellow, etc.; epoxy anti-static topcoat is to choose titanium dioxide, carbon black, Hansha yellow, Taijing series pigments, etc., these pigments have excellent chemical resistance properties.

Second, paint

Fillers are white and colorless pigments with a low refractive index. Most of these materials are natural and industrial by-products, so the price is much cheaper than coloring pigments. The refractive index of the filler is generally 1.45 to 1.7.

Some fillers such as light calcium carbonate, silica and other small density, good suspension, in the paint can prevent large density pigment precipitation; some fillers can improve the physical properties and chemical properties of the coating film; some fillers can improve the water resistance, durability and wear resistance of the coating film.

In short, if we choose fillers, we must correctly select fillers in the production of coatings, which can not only reduce production costs, but also improve product quality.
