Recently, the Hefei Intermediate People's Court pronounced a second-instance judgment on the case of the criminal group of the evil forces of Fang Chao and others. The Hefei Intermediate People's Court ruled to reject the appeal and uphold the original judgment. Fang Chao, the ringleader, was sentenced to 25 years' imprisonment and fined 11.27 million yuan; the remaining members were sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment ranging from 17 years and 8 months to 1 year and 4 months and fined.
After trial, the court ascertained that Fang Chao, in order to obtain illegal benefits and using family relations as a link, gathered Zhang Jiangtao, Zhang Xiaoyan, Zhang Kui, Zhao Xingxin, Liu Xiaoyan, Wang Yue, and others, and used threats, intimidation, or false lawsuits to carry out illegal and criminal activities mainly in Feidong County, Anhui Province, and in nearby areas, forming a criminal group of evil forces with Fang Chao as the leading member, Zhang Jiangtao as an important member, and Zhang Xiaoyan, Zhang Kui, Zhao Xingxin, and Liu Xiaoyan as other members, doing evil deeds, bullying the people, and disrupting the economy. The order of social life has caused a relatively bad social impact.
The Hefei Intermediate People's Court held that Fang Chao and others had committed the crimes of fraud, extortion, picking quarrels and provoking trouble, fraudulently obtaining loans, and false litigation, etc. The facts found in the original judgment were clear, the evidence was credible and sufficient, the conviction was accurate, the sentence was appropriate, and the trial procedures were legal, so the above ruling was made in accordance with law.
