There is a line that says that a tailor who does not want to be a cook is never a good driver.

Can you think of it? A petrochemical worker in Luoyang taught himself to write lyrics in his spare time, writing more than 300 lyrics in six years. What's more, there are more than sixty awards.

On the 24th, the reporter of Luo Bao Rong Media interviewed Li Xusheng, a petrochemical worker, and listened to his story of the connection with the lyrics.

In six years, he wrote more than 300 lyrics and won more than 60 awards

Recently, the results of the "Song of the Heart" - celebrating the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China were released, and Li Xusheng's "Belle Epoque With the Party" and "Beidou Love Words" were selected and awarded excellent lyrics. The event was co-sponsored by the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League and the Chinese Music Association.

"'Songs in the Heart' has 100 excellent lyrics, and I am very happy and excited that two of my lyrics were selected." Li Xusheng, 48, said he began to teach himself to write lyrics in 2014 and wrote more than 300 songs in six years, of which more than 60 won awards.

Surprisingly, Li Xusheng is not a professional lyricist, his job is the operator of Sinopec Luoyang Branch (referred to as Luoyang Petrochemical), responsible for the daily inspection of the solvent de-asphalting plant, which mainly produces road asphalt and de-asphalt oil.

Li Xusheng's parents are both employees of Luoyang Petrochemical, and in 1990, after graduating from Luoyang Petrochemical Technical School, he entered Luoyang Petrochemical to work.

"I grew up loving literature, especially ancient poetry, and after going to work, I worked as a rivet for thirteen years, and my hands were worn out of many calluses, but I still insisted on reading and usually wrote some diaries." Li Xusheng said that after studying for a long time, he had the idea of writing his own poems.

The first lyrics were written by feeling, and the lyricist Yan Su changed the lyrics for him

Li Xusheng was lucky, the first lyrics he wrote were "success in one fell swoop", and he was fortunate to have the guidance of lyricist Yan Su.

One day in August 2014, Li Xusheng learned from television that the large-scale documentary "Remember Nostalgia" produced by CCTV Chinese International Channel collected theme song lyrics from all over the world.

"Nostalgia is an emotion that every Chinese has in their hearts, so I also had the idea of writing lyrics." Li Xusheng said that because he had no experience in writing lyrics, he wrote the first lyrics "Nostalgia" by feeling in one go.

To Li Xusheng's surprise, his "Nostalgia" was finally shortlisted for the lyrics of the 30 theme songs of "Remember Nostalgia", and Yan Su, a judge and lyricist of the event, changed his original work "Roaring Sentence Xiangyin To Relieve Homesickness" to "Say a Hometown Sound to Relieve Homesickness".

"Teacher Yan Su is my one-word teacher, and his revised lyrics are more flavorful and easy to sing." Li Xusheng said that he also took the opportunity to seek advice from Teacher Yan Su.

"Ancient poems pay attention to rhyme, basically can be sung, and writing lyrics can learn from the writing method and poetic meaning of ancient poems." Li Xusheng said that the successful entry of "Nostalgia" has strengthened his confidence in writing lyrics in the future.

"Flying Geese" was selected as a high-quality project for chinese contemporary songwriting and was widely sung

Because of the success of "Nostalgia", Li Xusheng had the opportunity to get acquainted with professional musicians. In 2015, Li Xusheng received a call from Luoyang musician Li Yuting, and the Luoyang Municipal Public Security Bureau solicited a song praising the heroic model of public security and suggested that he try it.

"After carefully conceiving, I combined the police shield and the responsibility of the public security and created the lyrics 'You are the shield, you are the bearer."" Li Xusheng said that the lyrics of this song were recognized by the Luoyang Municipal Public Security Bureau and were composed and sung, and the song MV was exhibited and broadcast in the Ministry of Public Security in the same year, and received praise.

In August 2016, Li Xusheng wrote the lyrics "Flying Geese", which was unanimously recognized by the music circle and became the most popular song in the songs he wrote.

"I wanted to write a lyric about the Chinese dream, and I wanted to write something new." Li Xusheng said that he chose the characteristics of the geese coming from the south to the north, combining "the dreams of the geese, going north and south, and "spreading their wings for the mountains and rivers, vacating the beauty of the motherland." Borrowing the image of the geese flying, he meticulously portrayed the naked mind of a child who was intoxicated with the mountains and rivers, loved the motherland, soared into a dream, and rushed to sow spring.

After the lyrics of "Flying Geese" were completed, they were favored by composer and vice chairman of the Guangdong Musicians Association, Li Shumin, who composed the lyrics and sang by singer Yu Yueyue, who has appeared on CCTV for many times.

With the participation of Li Xumin and Yu Yueyue, Li Xusheng's "Flying Geese" was widely sung, and the song was selected as a chinese contemporary songwriting project selected by the Chinese Musicians Association.

As a native of Luoyang, Li Xusheng has a heart for Luoyang, and he wrote the lyrics "Love of Luohe" and "Love Song of the Yellow River", which have been composed and sung. Now, Li Xusheng has joined the Chinese Music and Literature Society, the Sinopec Music and Dancers Association and the Luoyang Musicians Association.

"Lyric writing requires continuous learning, more reading, more style, and my next step is to try a variety of styles of lyrics and write more lyrics praising Luoyang." Li Xusheng said.
