Xi'an, September 26 (Xinhua) -- At the Shaanxi National Games, Olympic weightlifting champion Long Qingquan, who is an independent observer of anti-doping, said that his new role has allowed him to examine anti-doping work from another perspective and gain new insights.

The Anti-Doping Independent Observer Program was established by the World Anti-Doping Agency since the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games, and the China Anti-Doping Center was first launched in the Second National Youth Games in 2019, which is the world's first independent observer program organized by the National Anti-Doping Agency. Long Qingquan was stationed at the General Assembly as one of the first batch of anti-doping independent observers for the National Games.

The work of the independent observers is mainly to observe and evaluate the overall operation of anti-doping work, including operational command, education and development, inspection plans, selection principles, notification procedures, sample collection, sample transmission and results management. In recent years, the Independent Observer Program has tended to be an on-site review model in which observers work with anti-doping staff and event organizers, follow up step by step to understand the work, and finally form observer reports to improve anti-doping work.

Long Qingquan said that the original doping test as an athlete was only familiar with one link of receiving samples, and now participates in and understands every link of the process, from notification to sampling and even sending athletes out of the checkpoint and back to the Beijing laboratory. Originally just aware of the hard work of the inspectors, now there is a greater harvest and a deeper understanding of anti-doping work.

"Just like soldiers defending their families and defending the country, we athletes are trained well and go out to play games, raise the five-star red flag, and win glory for the country." And we have to take a clean gold medal, and everyone has to be clean and shout for pure sports. We speak by strength and do not engage in crooked slants. Long Qingquan said.
